Can't think of anything I learned about Rocky listening to this damn album and they're talking about substance lmao
max b refers to his incarceration before he did music ( I think), he never rapped about that before or his pov on religion lol
F*** anyone saying “it’s just nostalgia”
2015 was one of the best years the genre ever had
legendary album fr
perfectly encapsulates Rocky stepping into his place as one of the GOATS
!https://youtu.be/lNq2ZN2IpoAHe is so f***ing wavy man
One of my favourite albums ever
I liked Testing quite a bit but it is a shame that it’s been almost 10 years and Rocky’s yet to come close to the magic he produced on ALLA. Wish his momentum didn’t stop after that album

1000% maybe my favourite year of music ever
Too bad no one cares what Rocky has to say
It’s not enough to just touch on topics lol this guy is a surface level thinker and doesn’t say anything interesting about it
No one wants to acknowledge it but Rocky isnt smart enough to make good rap albums, he’s a bimbo
what does substance even mean. like if im just a regular dude working a 9 to 5 and have a dog and i rap about playing video games, karen from accounting, walking my dog, and bad tinder dates does my music have substance because it's genuinely about my life or does it lack substance because it's not about issues that don't necessarily affect me but affect people in my a community i'm part of. i'm not trying to be facetious or anything either i'm just wondering people's take on this
This honestly deserves its own thread lol
I consider that to be substance and even Drake early on got love for that type of s***
But there’s a fine line between that and late era Kanye where you’re just oversharing about s*** we can’t relate to. It’s tricky
Who else tackles topics like gentrification, incarceration, religious hypocrisy, capitalism, poverty, d*** abuse, tragedy and much more all in one album
And it’s crazy everyone at the time was saying Rocky doesn’t rap about anything
Easily the top 3 conscious rap album to come out last decade
“I’m A$AP Rocky. I did not sign up to be no political activist. I wanna talk about my motherfuckin’ lean, my best friend dying, girls, my jiggy fashion and my inspirations in d****. I live in f***ing Soho and Beverly Hills. I can’t relate. I go back to Harlem, it’s not the same. It’s a sad story. I gotta tell you the truth. I’m in the studio, I’m in fashion houses, I’m in these b****es’ drawers. I’m not doing anything outside of that. That’s my life. These people need to leave me the f*** alone.”
Canal St. is one of his best songs to this day
West Side Highway is so chill I love it
j coles music doesnt have f*** all substance its all surface level s***
cole writing about wanting to fold clothes for someone is very genuine and beautiful i love it honestly. neighborz is a great song too about real life experiences. i don’t listen to much cole and honestly don’t even remember a single song from his last album but his lyrics deserve respect for being genuine
One of my favorite albums ever and one of the most underrated hip hop albums
I did not forgot how much KTT hated on this album until the last couple years
This honestly deserves its own thread lol

yeah totally agree like drake saying he’s afraid of being single at 30 is one of my favorite lyrics of all time bc it’s a very real and genuine feeling for a lot of people and not some fake deep stuff

i need you to talk about philosophical concepts that keep my third eye wide open vroskii
