I went a little over 6 years ago. Rented a moped and drove around at night to find different kinds of Shaokao, probably my favorite thing I did in Beijing. Houhai Bar Street near the Drum Tower is cool too
never been there but there is a museum about the may fourth movement
the Peking University Red Building

OP should definitely check out Chengdu. As one of China’s most economically developed urban centers, Chengdu is located in the country’s southwest, far from the capital Beijing and its regulatory oversight. To stimulate the local economy, consumerism has given rise to a wide range of entertainment venues throughout the city. Chengdu is home to a variety of subcultures and lifestyles, which offer LGBT people more opportunities to meet like-minded friends and partners. The city has both lesbian and gay male clubs, and it reports a higher percentage of self-identified LGBT people than some of China’s more populous cities, such as Shanghai or Beijing. With over thirty gay bars, LGBT groups in Chengdu regularly socialize and maintain their community in these spaces. A notable example is the long-standing gay bar McKinnon’s, and the city is also known for its lesbian-owned cafés and thriving boys' love (BL) fandom culture. Chengdu is often informally called the “gay capital of China” due to its relatively open and visible queer scene.

bro wants me and my parents to go to the cocksucking capital
I don't think vintage/second hand stores exist in China. You would have to go to a flea market. Even then it might be difficult to find clothes specifically. If you want revolutionary trinkets, your best bet would be porcelain because that gets passed down generation to generation. I live in a part of Australia w/ lots of Chinese people and the antique stores have tons of old plates, cups and teapots with Mao's face on them. Very expensive but I assume they are cheaper and more abundant in China itself
Was gonna tap in but I haven’t been to Beijing since like 2019
I just visited in 2024 tho. Shanghai and Sanya. Make sure you download WeChat and get some credit cards added to it.
You pay for 99% of things there with your phone and WeChat pay is the standard
Get your VPN locked in too
