i feel like when people meme "sigma males" it's because those ideals are laughable to people. ofc there are people who subscribe to that ideology, but from what i've seen, people joke about sigma males in an attempt to expose how ridiculous their culture and ideals are. i don't think it's exactly comparable to Pepe, which was adopted as a symbol for hate and internet weirdness (which it isn't exclusively, i would say)
