@discman i understand that this stuff doesn’t have a specific time table on when it improves, but since you’re in the field what is the longest period that you’ve seen or heard of where someone gained back movement

2 yrs, full body movement, but it was gradual.

    bed> movement > walking =1 year

    walking with a cane = year 2

and this is someone tremendously lazy.

i guess i’m not asking about it that way. in my case, like i’m walking pretty damb good i’m not worried about my leg
i just don’t have arm movement aside from a non isolated bicep movement (it’s basically if i squeeze the rest of my body muscles, if that makes what i’m saying anymore clear. like one moment it just might happen if my brain creates a different pathway and that’s just it?. because i do my therapy routine from the hospital everyday at home but it’s hard to exercise an arm that isn’t working the most i can do is stretch it

from your description, i couldn't be sure if your arm would ever function normally again. there are many stroke victims that never regain full movement, or any movement at all, in lost limbs.

i would have to do more research and talk to the physical therapy dept to see if they have seen someone similar to your case.

on a science study note, i wonder if an ssri like prozac, which promotes brain plasticity, could help you regain movement. i've read a study where stroke victims given prozac did regain better motor function, their brains made more connections.

i have done a bunch of ketamine infusions which gave profound changes to my brain, but i haven't read any research into ketamine and motor function.

i have mild cerebral palsy in my right side, and prozac noticeably increases my resting coordination.

my doctor in the hospital said something about that cause i’m already taking cymbalta depression so i’m sure he was talking about what you are

i would give that a try.

even the oldbies they gave prozac to, had noticeable improvements in motor function.

other than that, time is the best medicine. you're doing everything you can. it's up to time and your brain. maintain a nutritious diet and exercise regimen. if it happens it will. i will be praying for your arm.

i would say it's probable. i haven't seen someone your age with a stroke, the guy i mentioned earlier was in his 40s and went from a trach to full body movement, so based on that i would be very hopeful.

yeah that’s the annoying part with everything else a doctor says blah blah recovery time. but stroke is so ultra specific you don’t know until you know

yeah it's frustrating i bet because you want to have a full life, and i get that. just put your brain in the best position to heal itself with exercise, meditation, good food, and the rest is in god's hands. according to the gospels he healed a paralytic who waited by a pool of water for 38 years, that was said to have an angel stir it, the first one in got healed, so he never got in first because he couldn't move. jesus asked him if he wanted to be healed and the man said yes and jesus told the man get up and walk you are healed.

how are you a spiritual guy in a science career

my mother was a biologist but developed a devotion to mary before her premature death due to a drunk driver.

i was raised haphazardly through fundamentalist bible camps as well as ccd where i was confirmed, basically against my will because i was a biblical literalist at this point.

my spirituality is the only thing keeping me going. i am broken like everyone else. i'm a diehard catholic and will go to my grave professing faith in jesus christ.
