Yeah idk what to tell you. The show is realistic gore. This isn't. It looks like the CGI from Spawn (1997)

The show is a show, not a video game. Obviously everything about the game is going to look more realistic in the show, including the blood and the gore. Absolutely braindead take. You can shoot a railway spike through someone’s head, decapitating them and nailing their head to the wall. It’s a brutal game. There are bags full of organs. There’s even a perk that makes enemies explode into a bloody paste.

Yes, and shows can portray violence in a stylized manner. You can use real squibs or CGI blood. You can do whatever. The show is kind of brutal and true to life. The game looks like a game. And the portrayal of violence, to me, was jarring due to the similar contexts and different effects.

You guys don't have to agree, but this argument about the game gore looking like the show gore is just dishonest.

The gore in the games is brutal and disgusting, it’s not stylized at all. Maybe decades ago it was lower res, but in 4k in fallout 4 it is absolutely disturbing and the show captured that. It’s the exact same over the top gore just done with practical effects instead of video game CGI. A perfect adaptation imo.

You have to realize the naturalism of cinema and the higher definition graphics of videogames are just not the same thing. Are they converging on AAA titles? Stylistically yes, sure, but the times I've found videogame gore disturbing it wasn't really the fidelity of the image itself. It was something like the hand getting cut off in Resident Evil 7. It's not about the shaders and engine and resolution.

And Fallout isn't Resident Evil. This gore would be fine in Resident Evil.

I’m actually not saying they’re the same thing. I’m saying if blood and gore in a video game is brutal and disturbing than a film adaptation will be even more disturbing just off the basis that it’s film and not video game graphics. Also that gap will slowly close, Fallout 5 will, just by its nature of being over a decade after the most recent game, be the most brutal game yet. I’m guessing in 10-20 years it’ll be almost hard to tell the difference.

Almost done with this. Glad there's gonna be a second season.

Finally done with this. Looking forward to S2.

Did you guys think the gore was necessary in this show?

    Without a doubt
S*** was just as brutal as the games, if anything they held back a bit

The boys definitely the Amazon show with the most cultural impact feels like homelander and stuff are pop culture staples at this point (although maybe it’s just huge on the internet and not irl? But internet is pop culture now so who knows)

Is it a spoiler for why the mini-gun didn't rip the old guy and dog to shreds or is it a s***ty editing mistake?
