Have you read amazon’s work practices

    It’s f***ing predatory and demeaning

Based on the profitability of the company they’re min wage should be like $35/hour

You tried to sound intelligent but you just look stupid as hell. You’re mad at the wrong post. It is incredibly insensitive to black people to compare at will employment with double the federal minimum wage and full benefits plus bonuses to what slaves endured. It is not even remotely comparable.

I would go into detail on how the two are so drastically different but honestly it’s quite the trigger warning when you describe the treatment of slaves in detail.

So I encourage you to actually learn about the history of black people in America because you clearly don’t have a f***ing clue.

Not only is it insensitive, it is incredibly ignorant, disrespectful, and flat out incorrect to compare the treatment of Amazon’s employees to slaves. What a f***ing stupid ass post.

How about you just shut the f*** up about such a stupid contrived point and either support these workers trying to get a better life or say you don’t

But stop shrouding yourself in cynical use of identity politics

Shouting a buzzphrase like “identity politics” (when it has absolutely no connection in this case and really doesn’t have much meaning as a whole) for calling out someone for comparing the horrors of slavery to working at Amazon is pretty pointless.

  • Feb 22, 2021

Also the fact that you think Amazon could afford to pay employees $35/hour tells me that you aren’t offended by my point about slavery, (which you can’t be offended anyways because nothing offensive was said, unless you’re a racist wh*te) but that the leftist comment really struck a nerve.

Also, not a conservative lmao. Try harder to troll.

It is a cynical use of identity politics because

    1) you’re white and you’re haranguing on a irrelevant point while fighting against black workers trying to get a semblance of a better life at their workplace

    2) you revealed your politics on the matter in that dumbass “amazon already does better than the govt” post but yet you’re covering your opinions under the guise of you just being really “concerned” that “white leftists” understand the devastation of slavery

Dumb motherfucker you think these majority BLACK workers pushing this union are white leftists or don’t understand how slavery was evil?

  • Feb 22, 2021

I work for Amazon. And I work in a Union. I will gladly take that 2k lol

I am talking about the people in this thread comparing it to slavery you f***ing moron.

It has nothing to do with identity politics by calling out white people comparing Amazon to slavery. It is incredibly insensitive and somehow you cannot grasp this very simple concept. It seems like most people agreed with my post if you read through the thread.

No, because it doesn’t exist anywhere in developed countries today. Not saying racism & mistreatment of workers doesn’t exist, but to compare Amazon’s workplace conditions to slavery is like saying “well slavery wasn’t actually that bad”.

Most jobs that involve physical labor are miserable. It’s the nature of the work. Amazon can do some to make their workplace conditions better at certain fulfillment centers, but the company as a whole treats the majority of its employees well & compensates them more than a lot of other employers. Those who are mistreated should still be able to voice their displeasure and Amazon should take action.

well to respond to your point i think the slavery comparison is a narrow american perspective right. slavery is still very much alive in the world and it’s a force in global industry

however i do think that there is fair criticism to be made against amazon’s business practice and warehouse jobs at large! to what ends do they meet but raise capital for a few stock owners ? $15 wages for grueling demanding labor that ends up being eaten away almost completely by living expenses?

i think i do agree with your criticism of white leftists over sensitization and their love of the “slavery” term.
but i don’t think we can get distracted by the fact that many of these workers are below the poverty line is kind of exploitative. i truly believe these workers deserve better wages when you come to understand how much the company profits and earns back from taxes. if these people keep one of america’s largest industries afloat, they deserve better imo!

Don’t worry this dumbass thinks the only slavery is cotton fields

Don’t waste your time man. We’re literally BLACK im sure we understand the nuances and destructiveness of slavery

He’s a conservative and he doesn’t believe in the concept of a predatory and destructive workplace fundamentally so he’ll never concede

This nigga definitely works pr for amazon

Bro this is most profitable company in north america

Go read testimonials on how they treat and overwork staff. It’s not just a few facilities

There’s literally countless stories of staff not being able to pee due to their timing system. A wage of $30000/ yr is nothing. It should be atleast $30

$30k/year is decent in most of the US outside of large metro areas. Guess where Amazon’s fulfillment centers are located? Not in these areas due to supply chain strategy.
