created by Patrick McKay & John D. Payne
based on “The Silmarillion”, "The Lord Of The Rings" and "The Hobbit" by J.R.R. Tolkien
Beginning in a time of relative peace, thousands of years before the events of Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth.
got my doubts but really really hope this is good. if they learned anything from The Hobbit disappointment they should stay away from too much CGI

Hobbit looks terrible, so much saturation and 'soft' filters put over it.
LOTR trilogy is one of my favorites and I've rewatched them multiple times, but have only seen the Hobbit movies once each, when they came out in theaters.

https://twitter.com/THR/status/138310150694202982560 million dollar budget per episode for the first season. F***ing insane.
Comparison:
Marvel D+ shows got around 25 million
GoT was around 15 million
He's only directing 2 of the episodes.
2 too many
And the main creators have never done anything in Hollywood beyond some s*** Star Trek movie
This is a disgrace
