The two different actors with two different takes seems like the issue to me. Jeff seems high as a kite the first time and the second time is all Jimmy projecting.

It's not like there's a deep character here to veer from. The performance is different.

First meeting was sinister but you gotta remember this is SAUL GOODMAN. DON’T LET THESE MFERS FORGET. I think Jeff becoming more of a “dweeb” is more so Saul letting himself remember he is that guy, he runs the game. Tracking down Jeff’s mom like that and having her in his back pocket too. Saul Goodman is alive and well, Jimmy seems to be gone for now.
