Crazy how some of the most impactful/influential people in forming who Jimmy truly is are shown so little (Marco and and man that scammed his father).
This is the post that reminded me of the quote btw
An interesting choice of words. Do you think they had an impact on who Jimmy really is or to who he has become?
Would like to see your opinion cause I think there’s a difference on who he really is and who he was formed to be
One thing I never got about gus. Obviously he had a hard on for getting his revenge on hector, but nacho was living the same life he had right?
The salamancas were threatening people close to him; his family.
So like.. why was he making him his slave. Do they not share that same motivation
One of the very few personal stories we hear from Gus is also the one that describes his character the best. I’m talking about the fruit tree and the bird that stole his fruit. He grew up very poor with barely anything to eat. Behind his house there was a dead tree that he started to take care of. Then, when it finally bore fruit, he ate it and said it was the sweetest thing he had ever eaten. After feeding his family thanks to his hard work and patience, he went to the nearest city to sell. One day as he comes back home, he finds most of his fruit gone and spots the bird that stole it. After setting up a trap, neglecting everything else and waiting hours for it to come out, he finally catches it and makes it his pet. This story pretty much translates to all his future encounters with enemies and shows his terrific dedication to protecting his food (business).
And the way he delivers this story to Hector in the hospital is easily one of the coldest scenes in the entire franchise. This man is the definition of playing the long game. His incredible patience paired with his beast like instincts and will to kill anything that dares harm his food really made for one of, if not the best villains in TV history
At the end of the day Gus was really in it for himself. Motivations be damned, Nacho was another step up towards the top for him (imo ofc, there are probably tons of other explanations)
Also this mfer just despises anything connected to Salamancas lol
Nacho dying was no step up for Gus. He simply died because he threatened his business (Read above)

I agree. Some time ago I saw a sick edit that laid the audio of the story over Gus’ & Nacho’s relationship.
Hammered home what you’re basically saying
Rewatching…….man “chicanery”!!!
The way the camera pans in one cut on Chuck as he melts down and rants is incredible and tragic.
