Show never recovered from recasting Jeff
Og Jeff and his crazy presence woulda really set that last half off and they recast him with a beta dork and obviously changed his character to fit the guys (limited) acting style
yall think gus was a top or bottom
Top! No f***ing doubt especially after how he treated Lyle when cleaning the deep fryer, he always had to be in control & hated being out of control during that scene with losing those money barrels to the DEA

I want the most brutally honest non biased response. I tried giving this show a watch twice and both times I stopped after the first few episodes. Just couldn’t get into it
Is this show truly an extremely slow burn throughout the entire series? Or is it only season 1 that’s slow and picks up more in season 2 and so on?
Breaking bad got me hooked right after the first episode which is why I was able to watch it entirely & enjoy it. And I want to do the same with BCS because it’s a BB spin off

it’s the first two seasons that are really slow for me
I was kind of just watching an hour a week for the sake of it & not really enjoying it
but it f***ing goes off from S3, they bring in a whole range of BB characters
TRUST THE PROCESS

Probably a completely biased opinion. Breaking bad and better call Saul almost tied for my favorite show of all time. But breaking bad I was hooked from the start and most people I talk to say the first season is slow. Which I think is crazy. But with better call Saul I think I tried watching it twice and couldn’t get passed the second or third episode. I just wasn’t feeling it and I wasn’t confident bob odenkirk could carry a show like that on his own. But eventually I tired and pushed through and it got really good. Bob really shines in this show. Mike is in it almost just as much as Saul. And he’s amazing too. Every season gets better. Eventually is breaking bad essentially. Obviously it’s a prequel. But the pacing and how tense it is it gets. It feels just like breaking bad. The cinematography at times is even better than breaking bad. But I still put breaking bad over it.

Same exact thing happened to me, it took me like 3-4 times to finally watch. Each time prior I would stop after the first few episodes.
Ended up loving it tho.

S3 (I think) is when it stops being slow tho and when he becomes Saul
Finally finished my first watch. Season 6 ripped my heart out man. Saul Gone is maybe the best episode of TV ever written

Yup. This one actually takes grinding through the first season. Looking back theres some very key character development though.
But then everything culminates in the craziest way possible just like breaking bad and youre left being like what the hell just happened

Not really a slow burn because s*** just keeps building. Then you’re going to think back like oh s*** this is why they did what they did 5 episodes ago
tv show of the life
Me? Nobody
S6 first half

is this you saying the b/w half is no good?

S***ty new actor for Jeff with none of the presence of the guy from the cold open, all the tension from the cold opens gone, weird turn where he just starts doing scams with the lame new Jeff, makes stupid mistake after stupid mistake, then trades 7 years for a life sentence like a total moron
@4star @K_Spacey @twitch thank you guys for your input on this. y'all were absolutely correct about everything and after finishing the show, I agree with what you've all said.
this show really had me hooked once it started to pick up. initially I was more interested in cartel business but even the lawyer story with jimmy/chuck/Kim/howard was amazing the further the story went.
I'm very happy I ended up pushing through and watch it entirely. can say it will go down as one of my favs, along with BB

good points, especially the new Jeff actor not having the same energy as OG Jeff.
I think he was doing those scams to feel alive again. his life looked miserable as just Gene the Cinnabon manager. I def. wish he would have stuck with the 7 years but I think he finally decided to take accountability and end things himself rather than letting someone else do it
Jimmy is one of the best characters of all time
