    “... Always has been”.

  • ziggy

There were black people amongst American Indians but not every American Indian was black

Just like a lot of other native groups had black people in them

It's a fact that is often ignored

Why are they called American Indians but they not from India

might be wildly wrong, but i think its cause they were trying to get to India when they "discovered" America

Columbus intended to sail to Asia, which they called “the Indies”. So he thought he was referring to ”Indian” people.

Black people were called the wrong names on purpose. Simple

How? How does being called an Indian when you have no connection to India better than calling you the native to your home. They're almost opposites in meaning.

American Indian is kind of an insult. It's like If I heard your name was Greg but your name is Marcus.

But I'm going to call you Greg for 600 years and so will roughly 98% of the people on the planet.

Still doesn't make you Greg really

Imo native American sounds alot better and I've never heard objections to that. But calling them something that refers a whole different ass country that they've never been to should be insulting tbh

Like my guy Zizek says, indigenous people hate being patronized and don't really care about being called Indian.

Atleast when they are called Indian, its a monument to the white man's stupidity
