This pandemic really brought it to me, a lot of you guys don't have insurance and would be f***ed by a sudden illness or injury. Can you explain it to someone outside. Seems like a no brainer to me

Many of us living here are broke as heck due to the expenses we’ve introduced into our lives such as, children we cannot afford, or our residences. We don’t prepare ourselves for emergencies because emergencies don’t happen every day. So we don’t look at it as something important enough to have money for(insurance). The only things we focus on are the things that have to be paid for frequently.

Corporate interests and manufactured consent on part of the media. Plus the red scare made alot of boomers extremely hostile to any kind of social policy, anything even tangentially related to socialism is demonized here. Plus individualism is HUGE in america, cultures vary so much region to region and even just city to city for people to even relate to or care about one another. Plus republicans have gone off the deep end and brazenly don't give a f*** anymore. Look up US fox news coverage and see how unhinged it is for yourself.
