Well, why would any state in the West defund police let alone abolish it on a large scale if they came about to counteract crowds and not crime. Right now we have a movement against police brutality comprised of riots and peaceful protests.
If centuries ago their response to riots and uprising was creating police why would they respond now by abolishing it. Police are supposed to work in their favor their like minions to the state in my opinion.
Not to sound defeatist, but the Us government doesn't give a damn: for example will send cia agents to interrupt foreign movements (they admitted to this in the case of the independence movement in the democratic Republic of Congo by assassinating Patrice lumumba; their then prime Minister and leader for revolution).
States work in their interest first, not in that of the minorities nor revolutionary uprisings, we need leverage in order to change things.
The best thing to come out of this is that more people are informed on how crooked police can be and that other avenues are possible.
