Heavily disagree. If I love an artist’s voice and it makes me feel good to listen to it and that’s missing, I’m allowed to be disappointed. If Michael Jackson dropped an instrumental album, it’s ok to be disappointed a little if his voice is what you love the most.
I think you can be disappointed but as a critique for the artist, I don’t think it’s much of a valid one.
To be fair they're listening with a different ear
"I have to like it as a person, as an artist myself, because if I don't like it I can't expect nobody else to like it. I can't pretend in that way."
If more artists thought like this we wouldn't be in such a state of mid rn.
I only brought it up to oppose @insertcoolnamehere's line of thought above. Nothing else really lol. Artists should be critical of their work, of course. Nothing wrong with what Pink said.

Using MJ as an example kinda interesting in retrospect cuz tryna make everybody happy quite literally contributed to his poor mental health and later on, death

Look man I love Outkast. I love rap. But rap is just one form of artistic expression. Andre is just deciding to use the flute as an outlet for his creativity instead of rap. If you like Andre/MJ/whoever as an artist you should be open to listening anything they create.
honestly hearing about this reminded me of Tyler's Louis show composition, not that the two are going to be similar but another example of a rapper doing something instrumental
i loved that soundtrack too i'm gonna go listen to it again

Agreed! That’s what I was basically saying.

Again, I am. However, if I love dre’s voice (singing, rapping, whatever) then I can be disappointed without it not being that I don’t care about the art. Both can be true

Technically his voice will be on the record, a flute is just a filter when u think about it 😏

Well… I wouldn’t say THAT contributed to his death to be very fair. The allegations and the hate from the media certainly did.

he was overworking himself tryna stage a big comeback / career ender to appease the same audience that had turned on him and mocked him for years.
I think that deff played a factor
They be on ____ ass for not making a proper "rap" album maybe they will call this guy a coward as well lolz
real
He says something interesting about how the wood interacts with the human voice and stuff, pretty cool
I like that this album is pretty much just a jam session
fs they're not appreciated as much nowadays sadly

Anyone can be disappointed in this release conceptually and that's valid
Just don't be angry at the artist like they owe you a specific expression of their art

But this implies the artist is doing something disappointing just because they decided to do something different than what the fans expected. this album will 100% be unfairly judged if people are going into being mad that Andre didn't drop a solo rap album lmao
