It’s far from traditional jazz, this is more meditation music. Actually, on my 3rd listen and there ain’t a single brass instrument on this s***.
I think he was using the term jazz to discuss what influenced him to reach this point of creativity and the jam session energy the album brought together. He only spoke about jazz in one question on the NPR interview lol idk why that’s the focus so much
He said there was no brass because he feels closer to wood as a material because metal has a very distinct color while wood is more malleable
Just skimmed through
All abstract jam sessions and soundscapes
I'm good
Yall have fun though

Thats exactly what was announced
Well hey I gave it a shot
One could argue skimming through it kinda defeats the purpose
skimming is giving shot
I'm not devoting 84 minutes to something I know I'm not gonna like
Track 1 is good, feels like a fully realized jazz track because it has a main melody or “tune” that Andre expands on and his playing gets more complex as it goes on, with more instrumental things complimenting, making for a nice build. The digital flute sound here is interesting, flute like but a little bit synthy and it works
Track 2 is much more digital overall, the flute patch used for the digital flute is closer to just a regular synth. I didn’t detect as much of a melody or tune here, there’s some interesting things like yawning throughout but it ends up feeling more like an ambient synth piece, kind of a let down after track 1 and lost my attention
Going back for more soon
One could argue skimming through it kinda defeats the purpose
I like the coverart. Boom. Just said something positive
been listening to the leak all day and I love this thing. Track 1 is by far my favorite.

because you don't know that, anytime you venture out of your comfort zone musically it's a normal feeling to be off put, but if it's someone you respect (im pretty sure ive seen you gush about Outkast or love below in some form) why not give it a real chance?
Like the first time I heard someone like Mingus or even Flying Lotus in his more experimental bag it didn't hit because there was no context for it, but as you build a palette for different types of music it starts to reveal itself in beautiful ways
