I really fw when he pops up on non rap albums the most, like a big ass surprise every time
I cherish every rap verse we get lol
That GQ interview story thing is borderline unwatchable
Why? I found Andre to be very honest + self aware.
Why? I found Andre to be very honest + self aware.
The dynamic of a Black man who used to rap lowkey belittling rap to a white man while said white man tries to argue he should rap is wild not gonna lie

The false marketing blurb bs
The embarrasing groveling writer
The eye-rolling and empty stuff that comes out of 3K's mouth
Entire interview was the polar opposite of interesting

What's the empty stuff 3k says?

How was he belittling rap
This is absolutely beautiful, Andre's use of chords is insane, it feels like you're being comforted from space, really intricate sound design, couldn't sound further from what I was worried it'd sound like (a guy on a flute in his garage)

To me, the whole corny stand up routine of “wHaT Am I sUPoosed to rap about, my colonoscopy” thing is belittling to hip hop. And the comment of “I can’t rap because I don’t want to hang around a bunch of ns smoking” might be true for him but saying it to this dude felt a little wild

You sound sensitive
im ready for my consciousness to feel this
music = vibrations = wavelengths/frequency = energy = life nigga
You can retire from rap just like any other career I would hope. It’s not like he belabors the point year after year on social media. Look at it from his perspective. He’s mostly off the radar for two decades and when he pops up to do a movie or art or fashion or this project, it’s something someone will always ask him and he addresses it. His answer has been pretty consistent for many years now. I’m excited to listen to this. Of course for me, I’d love lyrics from one of my favorite but I’m happy to just see him around and inspired. It’s cool to see.

I see what you're saying, the "rap is a young man's game" trope is played out, like whenever I think of Ye saying similar in 808s era ("I don't play rap in my nice apartment blah blah blah") or Drake talking about retiring early it seems like they didn't understand exactly what they were talking about, but they've both come back around on it
I think Andre just boxes himself into an old school idea of what a rapper is supposed to be, I think it comes from a place of insecurity not ignorance though

What would he be insecure about?
What would he be insecure about?
his past work being a measuring stick that other people (and himself) taunt him with
What would he be insecure about?
He’s mentioned several times how he has imposters syndrome and is very insecure about his raps. He’s tried to stop a few guest verses from being released because he was nervous about them. It’s the main reason he hasn’t dropped a solo
