I don’t know how you can hear an album full of lush synths and ambient flutes and feel anger
me listening to this album;
Still don't like the way he talks about rap
good lord y’all are dense i’m guessing you hated what kendrick was implying with morale too

Ok Ms. Emotional

I think he's not saying what the real issue is, he fell out of love with the artform in terms of personal expression. Him saying things like he's 48, what would be talk about, looking for normalcy with 6 month bi coastal sabbaticals, who he chooses to speak with in the public space is all disconnected and it feels like his absence was more a struggle with not being able to separate himself with his persona
Feels like rap is an easy scapegoat that he uses to hide the fact that his passions changed
😩🥺
I personally liked MMBS more than DAMN
I could've done without the Mother I Sober's/Purple Heart's/We Cry Together moments though

i mean i happen to agree with you. niggas out here rapping about all sorts of things, not to mention his features show he clearly has s*** to rap about if he puts all that bullshit aside and focuses, and there have been some snippets of leaks floating around where he's singing and rapping over instrumentals and they sound really good. it's fine if he wants to put out an instrumental flute record, but the way he talks about his rapping in general does strike me as a little odd
i wonder what kind of rap he listens to, if any. i would put him on to some really left field s*** if i could to show him that the boundaries of rap are really endless when you stop being so worried about certain s***. MC Ride is pretty old and has the most whacked out yet poetic f***ing lyrics ive ever seen in rap. Doom was old as hell and he didn't let that get in the way for him. to use a more popular example, we got Jay back with 4:44, or the last Tribe album. old niggas rapping is often goated as long as they don't try to sound like some young niggas or like they haven't evolved for 20 years like drake still old as hell talkinbout "you 25 yo you f***ed up my Bahamas trip"

i do too actually, but i could’ve done without kendrick pop rap records in general tbh for it

I don't agree much with this, and especially not with the Drake part
I think going super underground isn't good at all. Doom is cool for the niche, but that's not what rap is either. Even in the way he expresses himself in interviews now isn't like "hey I'm Andre, and I like doing this thing" it's more like "I'm Andre and this is what I did, I don't completely understand it but I hope you like it 🥺"
But I've always been under the assumption that humility is a negative trait

I like the pop rap records because his technical skill is f***ing otherworldly and the pockets he gets in and has fun with I think will push the genre forward when niggas get back to rapping
Insane amounts of cope itt.
No way yall satisfied with this background yoga music instead of an actual rap album.
