it’s likely that he wanted to publicly display the piece for something he was working on, or even just display it, but he had to find a way to make money with it under his parent company or else he’d lose commercial rights to the company

This is simply not where we are as a society. How about you focus your efforts in transparency at step 1, not the final step. Companies like the one 3000 is partnering with is at least working to create a movement in this deeply rooted evil industry.

We have had decades of systems building to where we are now. A company who is grounded in ethical and sustainable practices is not going to ‘win’ by recreating the game - they will be snuffed out WAY before they have any meaningful and long lasting impact. They have to play the game then change it over time.

Be honest when answering this: do you think the average consumer would change their mind on a $150 hoodie if they were provided material, labor, and overhead costs that went into the product?

So you admit it's just marketing lol

Just marketing? No, I do not believe so. They are advocating for and acting on better practices in an industry where the norm is being rewarded for maximum exploitation.

You make it sound like if a company highlights some of their practices then it is just a marketing gimmick. Your train of logic will eventually divulge into why does anyone do anything.

Do you currently shop brands that provide cost breakdowns for all of their items exclusively? If not, then what point are you trying to prove is my question.

No, but those brands don't claim to be ethical nor do they have defenders online defending their artisanal price point and lack of transparency. The shipping responsible for these products are driving carbon emissions up to the point of an anthropocene. Pretending you can do ethical consumption skirts around the suffering these solutions pretend to address.

Also, 3 Stack's reason for even doing this seems kind of weird too. Did he trademark his sketchbook years ago? Why? He's acting like he's having his hand forced when he entered into this process knowing why people trademark things lol.

None of this matters. Idc. Support the man. He made ATLiens. I just find the narrative surrounding it kind of weak.
