because people are close minded and since they grew up with animation for children they must think all animation is for children. Their unwillingness to change this belief is ironically very childish

Same way people think hip-hop isn’t real music.

Ignorance

Kinda goes back to where most people see growing up as giving up hobbies you did as a child and not being as a creative anymore. And animation is just that it’s so creative and it’s so fun and there’s so much freedom and almost everyone loved to draw or just have that creative freedom as a child.

Mostly I just hear old motherfuckers say this. Huge strides in the medium and reception among gen X and millennial critics seem to have done their part to broaden the appeal of animation.

Animation will be one of my favorite artistic mediums and greatest inspirations until I'm dead. I've loved it since I was a baby and I still find opportunities to be surprised and amazed by it today.

It’s funny that people are so turned off at the idea of watching a “cartoon” as they lilw to derogatorily say. Didn’t know growing up meant you had to shove a stick that far up your ass

Intricate plots, character development, on screen deaths

Seeing frieza get sliced was enough for me

End of Evangelion is way more f***ed up than 99.99999% of live action films I've watched. That s*** would land you in therapy watching it as a kid

animation is for children because it's designed to sell toys nd merchandise

think about it this way: mostly everyone in their 30s prefer the look of traditional 2d hand drawn animation to computer animation, but the latter has huge box office returns while the former has been extinct since the mid 00s.
