With all the classic manga stories OP, Bleach, Dragon ball and even HXH thriving it's sad to see the legacy of Naruto being in turmoil
db super writing is mid too tho

Tbh I enjoy the Super era. It's fun and isn't too confusing unlike Naruto
alright ill say something nice about csm
i like vas like sawashiro who have that mommy energy as much as the next guy but makimas current va is fine and its better when you have the juxtaposition of her having a soft, innocent voice
yeah lowkey thatâs pretty much how i imagined her sounding when i read the manga anyways
You canât really trust that list
First off the majority of anime is later seasons of anime with big fanbases (JoJo, Monogatari, Midtama) if you donât like these anime you donât have a reason to watch all seasons so the only ones left watching are fans so theyâll rank it high
Also when itâs a new anime like Chainsaw you canât really know how itâs going to be off the first 2 episodes and I think most ppl just decided theyâre going to like it before it came out
Just like Marvel/DC movies instantly getting a high score on IMDb before all the casual viewers watch them
My point is we all look at scores but I take them at a grain of salt I usually either watch popular anime or anime recommended by people itt
I trust peoples taste here more than thousands on MAL
I mean the ratings do change dramatically at times on MAL. When the recent season of AOT was airing, it was the highest rating of all time on MAL and by the time it ended, it was below 9.
And while it is true that the big multi season shows get all the love, itâs not like theyâre not typically the most loved shows by anime fans anyway. In the real world, shows like DBZ or Naruto are probably loved more than they are on MAL only because those are shows which transcend the medium. But MAL isnât bias against new anime launches. Vinland Saga, Made in abyss, the Promised Neverland weâre all recent examples of season 1s which got super high ratings. And in contrast, the last 2 seasons of MHA didnât even crack above an 8.0 rating on MAL.

Yeah thatâs because the MHA seasons suck tho
MHA is underrated on MAL tho they think theyâre too good for it
New season got a good rating. Honestly I do find most of the time that the MAL ratings are pretty accurate. Like s4 and 5 genuinely bored the s*** outta me for major stretches. I did really enjoy the first half of s4 but it was a slog after that

Need a gunm anime, been long overdue
The only thing MAL's top 100 tells you is what the largest demographic of the site likes. MAL's top 100 will be different than 4chan's top 100. 4chan's top 100 will be different than AniFem or xxanime's top 100. And so on and so on.
If you think MAL's demographic's opinion on anime are valuable that's your prerogative, but there's a lot of people out there who don't think it is.

I mean when itâs a site containing millions of users, most anime fans are more likely to identify with MALs top 100 than 4chan or AniFem or KTT because these are much smaller communities and likely to be more contrarian as well.
Obviously for gigantic shows like DBZ or MHA or even anime made with a huge western audience like Akira, studio Ghibli, NGE or even some of the Netflix anime, maybe MAL is not a great indicator for how the public receives them because theyâre much smaller. But for a show like More than a Married Couple or Dress up Darling, MAL got hundreds of thousands or even millions of people rating those. Itâs not just a demographic whereas 4chan literally is.

Tbh MAL's top list has yet to fail me as far as checking for new shows to watch.

Are you serious lol. Every site has a f***ing demographic.

You seriously think a site with millions of active users solely there for manga/anime is comparable to small ass communities like 4chan or KTT? MAL ainât a demographic lmao. It literally has people like you or people on 4chan grouped up as tiny segments in its overall population.

Just so I can get an idea of what I'm working with here... how small do you think 4chan actually is?

the anime community? Probably in the thousands at most. If you were to go on their site, even gigantic anime like One Piece or Gundam only has a few hundred replies to its threads
Nonetheless, I did the homework.
MAL demographics users
4chan demographics
I would gather more men watch anime than women too. Those demographics you're pulling probably capture the demographics of anime watchers in general. Manga is far bigger than anime in Japan too so I wouldn't be surprised if the biggest consumer of anime at this point is the USA
worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/anime-popularity-by-country
In the United States, approximately 72 percent of people watch anime regularly. This means that the United States has a greater number of total people who watch anime shows than Japan, but Japan has a higher percentage of its population that watches anime overall.
