Vinland AOTY?
You must be forgetting. Summer 2023. Anime is saved once again.
I love you Scooter
Makiko Futaki spoke through her animation. As a natural maven, she provoked and delighted the directors she worked under being one of the most intricate and precise animators ever to grace her freelance, and Ghibli projects. Though her very detailed approach didnāt grant her many opportunities (especially on tv anime, as Miyazaki personally attests to) she still managed to fight the odds and become one of the most reputable members of the senior team, and gave some of the most bold and most subtle cuts delivered in the studio's history. May she rest in peace.
What a legendary career she had. RIP
Man i just cant dig kenshin's new voice, hate to be the nostalgic one but his 90s voice was more fitting

What did you not like about Mercury this season?
Magical Girl Destroyers was such a big disappointment to me after episode 1 man.
I thought it was going to be a new cult classic
The political side of Mercury is half-baked, and that's me being generous. The political side of Mercury was a half-assed effort that was only tacked onto the show because it's supposed to be Gundam's shtick. It would be fine if the shows was 50 episodes so it would have time to actually explore that side of things, but the 24 episodes it has just isn't enough to split time between the interpersonal relationships of the characters, their own personal growth, and the political side of things. It should have just committed to being an Utena clone that happened to have mechs as a setting the same way Star Driver did.

I agree with you there. As a Gundam fan, the political mindgames is something I usually look forward to in every Gundam but Mercury is not that strong in that aspect. I feel like the team actually did think these things through but maybe because of the limited amount of episodes it feels forced sometimes.
Seasonās over so itās time to rank
1. Vinland Saga - Everything about it made it anime of the year 10/10
2. Demon Slayer - Amazing animation, two one-hour specials which were both fire, loved the demon that split off into others that was great, and of course the ending was one of the best 8.8/10
3. Hellās Paradise - Surprising, mysterious, exciting. Couldnāt have asked for more. First ep was kinda trash but quickly recovered every ep after that. 8.5/10 (I think this might have one more ep)
3.5 Dr. Stone (forgot) - Exhilirating like always, but something is missing. Still great tho 8/10
4. Mashle - Fun 7.8/10
5. Heavenly Delusion - Animation was good, story is meh. This had the chance to top the list but fell short 7.5/10
Now letās get ready for JJK & RENT A GF SUMMER

Tbh, i agree with this. You can see it the clearest in the latest 3/4 episodes, pacing has skyrocketed in a way. Show needed to be longer to flesh it out more, cause the actual political conflicts are interesting, just rushed
Still have to watch that final demon slayer ep but i need to prepare myself for 1 straight hour of mediocrity
