When all things come to a close Shinya Takahashi is an interesting case. I wouldnāt call him a late bloomer per say, but the projects he did work on back in the day has lead to a not so distinguishable animator or in his more monotone scenes very unrecognized as this went on for years. Only recently has Takahashi had a bit of a resurgence, being way more patient with his projects and focusing on the underlying best traits of his animation. There is a bit of a heightened feeling on Takahashi scenes, as if he imbues his animation with a supernatural feeling to make it look as badass and/or subtly gruesome as possible. A true anime wildcard, Takahashi is a hidden gem of sakuga.
Side note: I omitted a lot from this spotlight, mainly because there just wasn't a lot of anime or shows that I think were worth noting. Sure I could've said Takahashi did scenes on Naruto but they were not that substantial, along with many other things.
ngl never watched perfect blue before and itās playing in theaters in 2 weeks.. think ima get ticket

I like some aspects of the show but man is it embarrassing to be a watcher when reading this nut ass s***.
"About Rudeus: He doesn't really have any feelings of hatred for slavery. He feels like, it's not necessarily the case that all slaves are universally unhappier as slaves than they were before becoming slaves. So while kidnapping is evil, he can't say with certainty that slavery itself is evil and doesn't want to impose his own sense of justice upon a culture he is unfamiliar with."

I donāt really see anything wrong with that. Itād be f***ed if the author believes that about slavery in general but it makes sense why Rudy would not have a strong feeling towards slavery in a fantasy world especially when he doesnāt engage in that aspect.

So bro is both a pedophile and pro-slavery. Glad I never gave this garbage a chance.

Authors line of thinking isnāt surprising when you take into account that the story is supposed to be about Rudeusā growth as a character except for any time he does anything perverted or wants to sexually assault women because sexual assault is completely fine and should just be taken as a joke

I was going to say does the series paint his character as a loser taking a second chance in life to be better or just another s*** guy taking advantage of a s***ty fantasy world?

Itās moreso the former but he is a heavily flawed character who only sees humans as what heās perceived them to be from behind a computer screen and he has some heavy detachment and trauma issues as well. You see him improve as the show goes on though he still has a ton of issues. If the anime does slip up, itās in some of those initial episodes that portrays him sexually assaulting and harassing girls as comedic (though he is always punished for doing so and there are a couple moments where he faces some real consequences for doing so as well). Many of the scenes are essentially the equivalent to the kind of gags youād see in DBZ, though a couple do go too far imo. Not enough to detract from all the other amazing aspects of the show but definitely something to mention.

The funny thing about this and a reason why this s*** is so terrible is that MC is in fact a loser and the author 'tries` to paint his character as someone who is taking another chance at life but for some reason the author thinks that assaulting women, stealing their panties and being a massive pervert isn't a factor when it comes to becoming a better person so it heavily steers more towards the latter.
In his previous life he was a loser that was scared to leave the house and dreamt about sleeping with little girls. Now he engages in grooming little girls and sleeps with them so I guess you could argue that he becomes worse as a person

Let me get this straight though. Kidnapping is evil but he canāt say with certainty that slavery isnāt? This a modern man too
Youād have to make olympic level stretching to make sense of this. Heās already irredeemable but now heās not even making sense. Feels incredibly unnecessary.

I think in the isekai genre and landscape, weāve seen slaves who had brutal family lives or previous masters end up with a protagonist that treats them in a way that makes them happier than they ever were before (shield hero is an example for one)
So Iād imagine thatās the thinking going on here. Itās not something you can connect to the real world because these worlds are full of monsters, danger, and terrifying circumstances such that somebody who is a slave could actually be better off having a benevolent master protect them than if they were free

Honestly big bro, letās not even go there. We donāt even know why he thinks like this and I doubt you do too. For all we know thereās an even worse explanation knowing heās a degenerate.
Having watched Vinland Iād agree with this line of thinking. Except that non of those characters drew the line at kidnapping or was reincarnated modern ppl. Like doesnāt slavery involve kidnapping someone against their consent? What are even discussing at this point, bro
