i thought the anime community had moved past dub v sub
Keep in mind these morons don't even understand if what they're reading subbed is a f***ing correct or good translation or not, they just default to it being better

exactly. at the end of the day, you are still just getting a translation of what's actually being said
And I promise you, s*** gets mistranslated all the time, even in subs, leading to misrepresentations of characters and their motives.
Not that anyone in this thread would have the language ability to know what's right or wrong (except me im the goat)

While I think 90% sub is better I don't really care if someone chooses dub.
I just thought the vid was funny
Like Hayabusa said there's some dub better than sub like cowboy bebop for example

ur so real
i still watch sub tho

need a japanese poster who been lurking thread to put oj in his place
the only thing that really gets me in dubs is name pronunciation because its always gonna sound wack
Also I don't think people realize the s*** that sounds cringe in English almost always also sounds cringe in Japanese, you just don't understand it and that's why it doesn't bother you as much
I think it's fine to not want to watch dub, by the way, I just think there's alot of blind hate for it when it's not anywhere near as bad as it was in like the early 2000s where we got one good dub every 3-4 years

actually i kinda f***ed up my post
i assume everyone in anime is japanese so i would rather the characters sound/speak japanese even if i can’t understand it than them sounding american/“white”
dub fire for s***ty anime that i just wanna put on in the background tho or for s*** like edgerjnners or the super hero heist anime on netflix. those made more sense/sounded better to me in english
mashle in dub could actually be good too
i thought the anime community had moved past dub v sub
Obviously it’s preference but outside of a handful of anime you really should watch sub cause a lot of dubs are just low effort and can detract from the quality of the story

ill just do what i've always done and watch both because it doesn't matter

That's kind of an irrelevant point to make, because you also don't know if the dub is accurately translating the dialogue.
At least if you're watching, say, a French/Spanish/Korean movie with subtitles, I'd argue you're getting a much more authentic experience vs. watching it dubbed. Because even if you don't know what the actors are saying, there are deliberate choices and nuances intrinsic to their performances. Dub erases all those things. So yeah, in general, I'd say it is better.

He's saying this dub vs sub debate is like a xbox vs playstation debate. He's calling us both stupid and that understanding Japanese with no subs is the true PC experience.

Yep and I’m right.
PC master race.
If you think I watch spongebob in any language other than Japanese you’re insane.

Suponjibobu sounds kinda hard ngl
only reason i prefer subs is cause as someone who only knows english, i'm oblivious to how cringe the performances can be or how cringe that s*** may sound in japanese cause i don't know the language, idk how that s*** is supposed to sound. so in english dubs i'm painfully more aware of how cringe stuff can be cause i know how english inflection and voices should sound, and often time dubs are over performed to the point of parody, which ruins whatever immersion or suspension of disbelief is required for me to enjoy the show

Just heard about this in JJK actually
S2 spoilers: Toji said megumi was a curse instead of his son in the dub
