i legit don't remember him saying that cause it's been years... narrative theme maybe?
That's not a direct quote but that's his whole motive, yea. Basically he sees what Konoha made his brother do as a symptom of the current shinobi way of doing things so he wants to destroy it and start over. That's why he wants to destroy the villages.
How do you guys define a weebs and do you guys consider yourselves weebs

Weirdly deep and philosophical… like an a***ysis of systemic issues
Didn’t expect it from Sasuke opinion redacted

Degree of weebdom exists.
I think the first threshold is if you actively participate in a fandom forum or community on social.

i've been a jjk hater but decided to actually sit down and watch it cause of the hype s2 is getting and i gotta say, it was pretty much the definition of style over substance. i'm sure nothing in this post will be new criticism of it but i wanna write it down anyway.
firstly, it's painfully obvious how much jjk pulls from it's influences. i see so much bleach, hxh and even gintama in this that sometimes it could be distracting
the biggest problem has got to be the writing. i know shallow writing isn't unique in shonen but man, there's just very little going on here. not a single one of the emotional or character moments hit with any impact at all. they all just felt like moments that were shoehorned into the middle of a fight because that's what shonen does, not because there was anything interesting or impactful that needed to be shared. not only that, but nothing in the plot felt unique either. i don't think there was a single moment were the story went somewhere that i didn't expect it to
the characters suffered from the writing just as much as the plot. the only characters i liked were todo, miwa and gojo, but that's really only cause i thought they were funny. pretty much the entire cast felt one dimensional and fairly cookie cutter. gojo is doing basically all the heavy lifting in terms of character and that makes everyone else look even weaker in comparison
but i didn't hate it as much as it might seem, it wasn't all bad. i enjoyed pretty much everything else that didn't have to do with the writing lol. i thought all the character and monster designs were very good, especially the monsters. it was also surprisingly funny, the humor was actually probably the best writing. i also thought all the powers were pretty cool and were used in creative ways. obviously where the show shines is the fight choreography. every fight had something unique going on and they were all really fun. finally, i thought the pacing was great. some episodes felt like they were 10 minutes long cause s*** just keeps moving and moving.
even though i got some pretty huge problems with the writing, i think i'll watch the movie and at least through s2. i think there's enough there visually to keep me entertained
Just watched Phoenix Eden: 7/10
It was pretty good. Aside from some minor criticisms of Nishimi overusing blur constantly and bad cgi at some points, I was surprised at how mild and collected a lot of the voice performances were. Surprised a lot by Com, a very cute character.
The background art in some shots during the last two episodes were phenomenal, I appreciate Nishimi not using cgi and instead using painted cut outs. As for sakuga it was pretty light. Nishimi unlike Konishi and Watanabe values simplicity over anything though the credits had a lot of new and old animator giants.
The story did a good job conveying the passage of time, although I thought some world-building was a tad undercooked. It is like that in the manga too since it was unfinished RIP TEZUKA
The series apparently has two different endings as this was released as a film and is streaming on Hulu
When it comes to major gripes, some parts go nowhere, and at one point a character makes a dramatic turn at the end that comes out of thin air, and only real reason for the change is retribution. Also a very tragic part of the story involving the fall of a civilization is handled pretty poorly, as there isn't a lot of gripping visuals to make it seem more impactful, it felt like it was oddly comedic and that just felt wrong.
