I can't remember if it was on the og ktt thread or here that people was talking about the usagi drop manga. I already finished the anime, picked up the manga. All the controversy and curiosity got the better of me so I skipped right to the end. Wth lmfaoo. What the fricking hell man

i obv don't hate it since i've watched every cour/season. just cause it's "wholesome" doesn't mean it's above criticism for having so much content that is straight filler

lmao na of course wholesomeness or any other quality could never make art/media immune to criticism, not what i was saying at all.

what i was saying was it’s a relatively high quality show compared to a lot of the seasonals releasing these days, from animation to characters to plotlines to comedy imo.

when you say “filler” do you mean stuff that wasn’t in the source material, or just the random/less important side stories that split up the main plot line? cuz i never read it and wouldn’t know about the former, but the latter is actually something i enjoy about the show.

Not all shows need to have a over arching plot to cover all episodes. You can enjoy episodic plot driven episodes too

The term filler has been infecting every fiber of fanbases for animation man.

Ex. There are people who unironically say "I enjoy the filler episodes of Adventure Time" when the point of the show is to enjoy all of their adventures

i have read the manga but not up to the point where it is now, only to where cour 1 ended. so if the side stories are in the manga as well then that's also a criticism of the manga. i think the show is actually good when they establish a plot line that continues through multiple episodes, like the end of cour 2 but the side stories do absolutely nothing for me and it's where the show is at its weakest

i have no problem with slice of life or episodic stories. but if your story has a through line that you constantly interrupt to show me a story that has no significance for any character or the world and that leads to nothing, that is quite literally filler and worthy of criticism. if you enjoy that, fine, but i don't

yeah this is pretty much where i stand too lol. seems a bit overly critical/try hard to call episodes about members of the Spy Family living their lives “filler” when the show is literally called Spy Family with the premise of a Spy being forced to live with a Family.

Speaking of degen.. aside from Konosuba I've also picked up Futoko No Guild ... well....because.. It's a good watch so far, close to finishing it
