more evidence that a lot of animators were not informed their scenes would be cut or modified with cgi
"I had a bad feeling when I saw the trailer, but I wonder if there was even a point to me doing it.
It would have been fine to just do it all with CG from the start...
All the other jobs I wanted to do and all the sacrifices I made, I want you to give me back the last two years"

I did Luckily they sold on Lawson cuz the other two websites require Japanese phone number authentification
The compositing is so good.... Probably the most underappreciated aspect of anime production even though I think its the most important.

Enjoy the concert, you're already in the top 1% of Revue Starlight fans because you can say you went to a live show.
Ngl I'm concerned what path they'll take though because the path to Queen/Meijin was already pretty well explored in Chihaya and Arata's journey I kinda hope they'll have this MC focus on winning the high school championship / the All Japan Championship since those are things Chihaya couldn't accomplish in the manga.
His downfall will be so sweet
Nothing gonna happen. MAPPA was in the dirt until his "ideology" took hold. You don't can a guy responsible for leading you to prosperity. S*** like this is regular in the industry as is.
Pluto is good so far, but aside from Shinya Ohira (who's back must hurt from bringing all the sakuga) this show has nearly zero animation, and all that blame has to go to Urusawa for likely having too much control and restricting a lot what you can actually do in this medium
I was kind of initially blaming this issue on director Toshio Kawaguchi (he did AD the ugliest episode of Evangelion, due to Ghibli staff having no retakes, so not his fault entirely), but once again I feel like this wasn't his fault. This is pretty much a one to one adaptation and I feel like so much potential with the visuals was lost and in its place there is a lot of less than stellar cgi, and super bland compositing. You have animators like Hirofumi Matsuda on here and a ton of veterans who feel so toned down that there isn't nearly anything interesting or exciting. And it sucks that there was likely a lot more scenes that had to be changed over this time period with them likely going to Urusawa and him nixing them entirely.
And it's not like I am begging for more action, but the characters move so boringly and it's not exactly exciting watching two characters talk with minimal body language, only having Fugita's designs carry. It sucks, considering how long the show was in production, these scenes in the trailer didn't even make it in https://www.sakugabooru.com/post/show/240796 https://www.sakugabooru.com/post/show/240797 the credit list has a lot of talented animators and it looks like they did close to nothing, or were just guiltily tagged
Long story short, keep these heady authors away from animation if they had something more boring in mind, and they don't understand the utilization of the medium they have at their disposal
I'd rather take Urasawa making sure the adaptation is right than have authors like him removed from the process and ending up with adaptations that look cool but are empty relative to the source. Both are possible, saying s*** like "keep heady authors like Urasawa away" is the wrong way to go about it. Pluto was fantastic. Not every anime has to be a visual spectacle. There's room in this medium for all kinds.
