Now in 2023 Vercreek would still be active albeit seldom showing up. I think he has enough clout now being as good as animator as he is to do whatever he wants. He first appeared on Yuzuru Tachikawa’s Blue Giant. A jazz film with some passing moments of more expressive animation. Vercreek’s scene has that for sure even given so much freedom to do Shingo Yama style crossfades, and have a vivid and abstract looseness with effects.
He in fact would return to work with Shingo Yama’s senior mentor Kenichi Kutsuna on the opening for Magical Destroyers
Vercreek start to 0:10
An opening that completely dismantles a lot of conventions in the last 30 seconds, Vercreek got the more traditional portion at the start and he is so good here. Unlike his other cuts entirely on 1s and goddamn, the sense of dimension with the faces, the detail on the peach, all pure kino.
Vercreek recently had a small portion of animation Hakuyu Go and Miso’s episode of Jujutsu Kaisen’s second season. The epic fight was so big in scale that multiple heavy hitter animators had to be brought on to push the epic spectacle. Although and trigger warning the episode was unfinished how could Mappa do that?
So that is Vercreek. He is so young and yet so talented. This now 20 year old has already gained a sizable amount of respect from freelancers and directors a like and he already has a solid foundation of visual identity to back his name up. From show to show Vercreek has inputed a stop and start type of animation with differing results. Vercreek any time he shows up in anything he is an instant smash hit pulling all the stops without letting off the gas. I’d love to see what he does next.

Don’t even think abt Bullbusters cuz it’s really on some bu-
Anyways, there’s a story there but not enough to redeem itself from the monsters getting the PS2 graphics treatment

anime of the century perhabs
Finished the new Rurouni Kenshin anime today. I've seen the live-action films before (amazing stuff), it was interesting to see what changes were made and what is apparently a very faithful adaptation of the source material. I don't know if it is necessary better. Anyways, I enjoyed it! The character writing and the romanticism really made me enjoy it, the characters in particular got nowhere near enough screentime in the films for obvious reasons. So my guys Yahiko and Sanosuke are in peak form here. The music was good, the art too (though I think the animation is wooden).
What I dislike is the battle shounenism of it all. Each attack is followed by several minutes of monologue, there's hardly any fights I actually enjoyed watching. The over-the-top nature of the fights and villains also have aged rather poorly. Some of the humour is off, most of it hits I think. I'd give this show a 7/10 overall. Second season seems to be set up for greater heights (Shishio!), I'm stoked. If we do get it that is, I don't know if this anime was really all that successful. Nothing too crazy, but I had fun watching this season.

Finished Fate UBW
I liked how compared to Zero this season/arc took a more shounen like style of story telling with Shirou & Rin being the main protags which also led to some servants being more or less throwaways or barely any screen time. Battles were all quite nice since the beginning as it had more mage type of duels and masters themselves fighting against servants.
The only meh points to me were how Sakura's plot went absolutely nowhere?? Idk if I just expected more out of her but in the beginning i was thinking that maybe she might also be a master but just couldn't control her Servant. It is crazy how she isn't a Master tho given all that she went through as a kid. Also the whole being Rin's sister clarification would've been nice to see...
Kirei's death was also a bit disappointing as I expected him to have a bigger role into all that was going on
Final ep was nice ( Luvia ) and had some beautiful landscape shots and cute moments. Overall amazing season 9/10!!
What follows next? Is Fate Stay Night worth watching? Or is the story really jover here
Finished Fate UBW

I mean, the story is technically over and its technically not over. Fate/stay night is a visual novel with branching paths. UBW is the Rin route, if you want to see more of Sakura then you need to watch Heaven's Feel.
