i agree with this for the most part and kinda already knew the whole "criticism draws the most attention" spiel, i guess what im trying to suggest is a different way to make the thread more engaging than it currently is rn.
morphe's animator breakdowns was a step in the right direction but i think we can one up that. iirc we have at least 11 or 12 active people here, maybe we could do an episodic discussion of a random show kinda like how anilist, /a/, or MAL does. (obviously this is assuming everyone agrees on a show to watch and preferably isn't a current season show or an extremely popular series). this also doesn't have to be limited to anime, we could also do manga as well (this one might actually be easier to accomplish lol).
My most popular animator spotlights are the action animators which isnโt surprising
Need more people to know about China and Moaang rather than Yutaka Nakamura
Also im glad I got people familiar with niche animators i.e. Shinya Takahashi and Akira Hamaguchi
Love this man
the bridge scene was some bullshit tho lmao
Damn, I really enjoyed the first 3 episodes. I really hate the mercenary with a passion lol
alright chat everyone read nana volumes 1-3 and we discuss a week from now.
one week from now*
"god I want to kill myself"
"Will she really fall for this dude?"
"Are they gay or not?"

I think your idea is fine and all the more power to you if you want to try it. It might be challenging, though, since getting people to commit to regular group watches can be tricky, even in close-knit communities. Iโm in a Discord server with around 250 people whoโve known each other for almost a decade, and even there, group watches usually max out at around 5-7 people. This is with people who are big into anime and very open-minded about what they watch. Your best bet is probably to start with a very short series if you want to try this.
why cant we talk about chihayafuru in the thread man...

need a Hideki Takahashi and Takashi Mukouda spotlight next season

Maybe i should also start doing some short reviews of what i watch, whether its a seasonal or backlog
Takahata Binge Results:
Grave of the Fireflies: 9/10
Only Yesterday: 5.5/10 (could go lower, I get it, but itโs painfully conservative)
Pom Poko: 7.5/10 (have it as an 8 on Letterboxd, pros outweigh the cons)
My Neighbors the Yamadas: 4/10 (could also go lower)
Already watched Kaguya, and thatโs an 8 easily
Kubo fixing his bleach ending is so beautiful man.
Gege will take notes i hope
Been reading Tower of God, first manwha I pick up aside from The art style feels a bit amateurish so far but I think it gets better in the later seasons
story is fine so far nothing too crazy yet.
Aside from that I was wondering, is Kagubarashi actually good? When it was being memed on a couple months ago i took it as fake hype
Gege will take notes i hope
Man idk. He's already moving on to another piece of work already.

A lot of people enjoy it outside of the hype lol. It just was a good marketing ploy.
