was looking at it earlier and was on the fence about starting it cus everyone says it actually does get really good in the end
but 170 episodes
people saying damn near the whole first half is kinda ass
It's better to read it IMO because you can speedread the bad parts. The cast is great and well developed but damn the story is mid to mediocre the whole way through

Whole second half is ass tooβ
Not worth the time at all

It was OK I guess? There were lots of little parts scattered throughout the show that felt like they could have been turned into something great, but their potential was just never fully realized.
At first, SSY seemed to be held together by looking at society in general, but it felt like it never delved that deep into it. The show would bring up a facet of society and just as quickly drop it to bring up a different facet. It felt like a first year university course where you get a tour of a subject, but not any of the information you get from the specialized courses in the fourth year. In addition, they spent like the last 25% of the show dropping almost everything that could be a commentary about society in favour of plot. So that was kinda lame.
The quiet, creeping horror as the characters discovered more about their world was great. There were a few moments that felt like lame infodumps but I think the world-building was genuinely pretty engaging, at least until they dropped it for plot.
So much potential, but I found that it didn't commit enough to one vision to suit my taste.
Also, Squealer did nothing wrong

I would need to watch it again, but I remember me thinking this was amazing. The animation was great and it was creepy as hell. Honestly, for the animation alone from what I remember it deserves more than a 5. You had to of just hated the story and characters entirely.

You'd probably still think its amazing. I'm just super a*** about what I look for in anime and SSY happened to not have what I wanted. It's still good at what it does want to do, but those happen to be things I don't care much about

This looks trash I never cared to watch it

It has an 8.3 rating on MAL for a reason man. I would say watch it for sure. I didn't watch it for a long time based on the premise and even the cover for awhile and was happy I finally did.

MAL reviewers some suck. I always see it on people's top list tho so I'm not entirely out of interest

They really don't... Only if it's a genre you don't like. Just stick to genre's you like and watch anything 7 or above and you will like more anime than you drop. I barely drop anything and have genuinely not watched any bad anime in several years because of this system.
One thing about JJK that I didn't notice until I was nearing the end of Demon Slayer is the complete lack of fanservice for a shonen
Can't recall any of the main cast being sexualized in any way. Even DS sprinkled in some anime titties and cleavage every now and then.
Just thought it was interesting

Mangaka said he couldnt put fanservice cause his parents would read the manga too
Iirc even bleach mangaka noticed there wasnt any fanservice and was quite critical about it
