Minor changes. It was a waste of my time and any changes has no effect on the overall experience of the next two movies. It's almost a shot for shot remake of the first several episodes of the series.

May have been a waste of your time but people that loved the anime will definitely love the first movie.
Going blind into the first movie expecting a recap and then seeing subtle yet major plot points diverge and then ramp up even more in the second movie is one of coolest parts of the rebuilds imo.
I will always rec watching them all for the full experience.

If you watched the first series and the first movie and then took a long break of a year or more I would agree with you. Otherwise, there is no point in watching it. There are no significant plot changes. It's literally worse than the series episodes because it's soo condensed. The second and third movies are different and need to be watched.

Rewatched the show and movies with a friend last week, his first time, and he loved the first movie.
Improved animation and plot differences are enough for most fans.

Yeah almost no plot differences. In fact, the differences are worse than the series. I listened to someone like you and regretted it. To each their own, but please don't listen to this guy unless you have taken a long break after EOE before watching the newer movies.
