Good luck girl is a great underrated manga.

Finished My first girlfriend is a gal dub, and it was funny.

    Now I'm starting lovely complex

Been watching a rom com called Saekano how to raise a boring girlfriend. Pretty fire so far

  • NiceLikeChrist

was looking at it earlier and was on the fence about starting it cus everyone says it actually does get really good in the end

    but 170 episodes

people saying damn near the whole first half is kinda ass

here I am now on episode 120 of black clover lmao

ngl I spent a lot of time pressing that right arrow key to fast forward through bullshit. really low lows, pretty good highs. definitely has been getting much better as it goes on.

I just finished golden wind in the anime should i read stone ocean now or wait for anime and go to steel ball run and Jojolion

    Don't skip parts.
That said, the anime for part 6 is almost definitely gonna be an improvement on the manga thus a better first experience.

So I just started reading Manga and can anyone please explain how Japanese people address one another? Sometimes they say their actual name... Sometimes they say their last name.. Sometimes brothers and sisters are addresses by their last name and it is different from one another.. Then.. the most confusing of all is all of the -senpai, or - chan stuff. I feel like it's some seniority thing. But I am not too sure. If anyone could explain this to me or point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Also a lot of these manga have parts where characters say things to a person in weird ways. Like... Say a character is James. They will say I don't care what James thinks (while saying this to James). I only love James. Is this some weird translation thing or how Japanese people talk?

    From what I understood:

    Sensei - honorific for teacher

Senpai - honorific for senior classmates

San - a formal honorific for everybody

Kun - a more casual honorific usually for someone your age

Chan - a “cute” honorific usually for girls or kids

Usually it’s the surname then the honorific but if people are close they might use the first name or a nickname

Also if they’re close enough they might use no honorifics (like siblings or really close friends)

Onisan / onichan - big brother / big sister

    Edit:

Sama - honorific for a god or really high status

Bro.. Thank you soo much lol

I’m not sure about talking in third person. I know “anta” is “you” but I think they might switch between this and third person. Maybe it’s to say “I love you, James” instead of “I love James” as in the you can be dropped.

If they address themselves in third person I think it’s a quirk. Usually when a character is childish and not really a common thing

Edit: I checked and apparently “anata” is disrespectful!

    @FLIZZY Explained honorifics pretty well.

I don't really know what you mean by the 2nd part, could you find a clip of an anime you watched where this happened? It would really help in understanding what you want explained.
