hina a show I know my friends would find funny if they actually watched it but it would be too hard to actually convince them to watch it just off a description of the show.

“It’s these two little naked girls who are actually aliens who fall from the sky and they strong as s***..”

Everybody was hyping Record of Ragnarok to have crazy fights in it, but this s*** is boring. Whichever studio did the animation for this is stuck in the mid 00s. This first fight Thor vs Liu Bu, has been like watching a Yu-Gi-Oh duel. These niggas have taken exactly 3 attacks in 3 episodes Too many flashbacks, and exposition.

Dawg it’s so garbage, imma keep watching but yea I can’t believe they actually made this, knowing that this is a tournament anime, all the budget should’ve been allocated to actual fights and not Aphrodite’s titty physics

I saw this a few pages ago but if you want to get your homies into anime then attack on titan is the perfect anime

nobody with a brain was hyping up a Netflix original anime bro lmao

almost caught up with 86. real cool show! i knew it was a war anime, but still didn’t expect the themes to be so brutal. it’s written so well that i haven’t even minded how it’s pretty much been a drama with a short battle scene every episode. taking me a bit longer to get through than To Your Eternity and Tokyo Revengers, but it probably has to do with the density of the subject matter tbh.

Companies like Netflix delving into the animation industry and helping fund new shows are partly responsible for s***ty anime production across the industry. The increased amount of shows being produced is causing the limited industry talent to be stretched thin - which results in talent overworking with s***ty schedules or less talented individuals getting work on shows.

S*** like Record of Ragnarok will become more commonplace unless people stop sucking Netflix, Crunchyroll, and Funimation's d***s so they can crash and burn.

Plenty of manga readers of RoR were hyping it up to be the next big battle anime.

Idk what counts as a Netflix original nowadays, but they’ve had some good ones. Even recently, that DOTA anime was pretty good. Castlevania of course. Is Dorehedoro considered a Netflix original? That was great.

7 Seeds was decent. Nothing amazing.
B: The Beginning I think was the name, was pretty good. Ain’t watched season 2 though. Yasuke was a miss, I don’t consider it trash though. If it came out in like 06 I think it would’ve been well received. They have good shows here and there, it ain’t all trash by any means imo.

Even this Philippines one, Trese visually is stunning, and seems pretty good. Only peeped the first episode so far though.

So what’s the alternative to this?

I have a more optimistic view that these western companies will continue to build and improve on their production of anime as it grows. Manga currently outselling comics (DC/Marve/Image etc) in the US so I can only assume people will want to cash in.

Nuclear option: The industry for some reason crashes and burns so they stop trying to produce ~50 shows every season. We go back to a more normal amount of shows so the talent is spread out across ~30 shows instead of ~50.

Semi-nuclear option: The industry starts paying animators a decent wage, and stops overworking them to death. Make being an animator an actually appealing career so they can fix the shortage of labour. Companies like Mappa are reaching out to literally any Twitter animator who has two hands because of how little animators there are (and also because of how absurdly terrible Mappa's working schedule is.)

The second option will not happen. Western companies do not give a f*** about the working conditions of animators. All they want to do is work with Japanese animation studios to make new anime that is exclusive to their platform so they can attract subscribers.

I’m ok with the first option. Nobody’s watching the 20 bad-mid anime every season. And all Netflix anime suck except Devilman Crybaby.
