I don’t think anyone is saying it’s not impressive because it is I just don’t think it holds any weight when talking about quality or impact. Rather than talking about the achievement and what it means in regards to the piece of art it was given to and WHY it matters people use it as a way to belittle and talk down on art and artist they don’t like which is my issue.
Well no, you guys are essentially implying it’s not impressive when you say things like “name one other person who won a Pulitzer” or “that was voted by a panel of old white people who know nothing about hip-hop”
You’re belittling it before the conversation about why it’s extremely impressive and important can even begin
you wanna dox someone because you in a KTT2 argument? Yes that makes you a massive f***ing loser.

Thank you for articulating my point eloquently.
Idc about drakes awards or a Pulitzer they don’t do anything for me personally, it’s not like they’re mine. Again this is pure projection, never said it wasn’t an achievement but it doesn’t signify quality or impact in any way especially coming from people who have no understanding of the culture or history of the music they’re giving the award to, if you want me to shut up block me then p****
You might not be black then. As a black person the fact that Kendrick won a Pulitzer instead of some undeserving white man, that counts in my community.
I’m sorry if it’s not a big chain or a new Patek or something that makes you niggas think it’s worth celebrating.

Drake section
No one cares about some Pulitzer bullshit here. It's like you guys are lonely over there and always bring that s*** over.
Y'all not gonna survive another 5 years leeching of Drake's presence in the game.
anyone ripped the 3 songs in the proper quality now it's on the website and added metadata?

If you think those questions are belittling it when they are blatantly facts I think you should some thinking on why you feel that way. They are the context that the award was given out in and don’t make lesser in any degree unless you feel those are the basis of the award. You can talk about the meaning of the award and impressiveness of it while also having the context of who gave it and reconcile those two things. They are not the end all be all of quality or impact nor are they an authority on what’s meaningful art or that doesn’t mean it’s it not impressive but the basis of the award and the way people talk about it are incompatible to me

You can frame this how you want. If you are mad at the fact that a black person wins an award that white people primarily win because your favorite rapper wasn’t the one they won it then that’s wack.

You right, imma block this bozo and get back to bumping the three pack 🫡🫡

Drake is a successful black man who is/was the biggest artist in the world.
Guy literally won a Pulitzer
Honestly this point has become a circlejerk for people online that don't even know anything about the award.
The Pulitzer award for music isn't awarded for lyrical content but strictly for musical composition. You'd think they'd give him the Pulitzer for Poetry but that's exclusively for non-recorded printed works.
Kendrick was up against "Quartet, by Michael Gilbertson" and "Sound from the Bench, by Ted Hearne". The award was voted on by 5 people ranging from a violinist, an opera director and some academics.
Not even trying to create an argument but I just find it funny that this point keeps getting brought up online without any sort of background knowledge or worse, is used to credit Kendrick's pen (even though we have a whole discography to use instead).
