Honestly this point has become a circlejerk for people online that don't even know anything about the award.

The Pulitzer award for music isn't awarded for lyrical content but strictly for musical composition. You'd think they'd give him the Pulitzer for Poetry but that's exclusively for non-recorded printed works.

Kendrick was up against "Quartet, by Michael Gilbertson" and "Sound from the Bench, by Ted Hearne". The award was voted on by 5 people ranging from a violinist, an opera director and some academics.

Not even trying to create an argument but I just find it funny that this point keeps getting brought up online without any sort of background knowledge or worse, is used to credit Kendrick's pen (even though we have a whole discography to use instead).

I wouldn’t bro, same way I don’t use Grammys or billboards awards and use my personal taste and feeling music is an art and hip hop is a culture it’s insanely hypocritical to praise things that are bestowed upon you from people who don’t have any understanding of that culture and then when a person is praised by that culture and face of entire genre for their art say that they’re a vulture. You don’t know me man. Stop projecting and acting like you do and address the logical points I’m making. You can’t. Because you’re not interested in having a meaningful conversation you’re interested in deflecting and projecting your own feelings into everyone else. I don’t need an award from people who don’t know anything about it to justify why I like drakes music more. With it or without it I like his art better and there isn’t a piece of metal on earth that would make me feel differently. It’s crazy that people who seem to care so much about culture when it comes to Drake and call him out about not being street and whatever are quick to start drooling at the mouth when they get even the slightest bit of validation from white elites it’s sickening.
