Workout and Cant Get Enough are dogshit songs who gives a s*** how “big” they were

Those songs are ass but the label was in the business of selling records and tryna sell Cole. I think there are a lot of mistakes made which Cole and the first rapper signed to ROC Nation. But I’m not mad at Jay tryna see if Cole can swim. He saw his potential… prolly saw the “independent” spirit in him but wanted him to go out there and work more.

The full force of Illuminati behind Meg
A verse on Mr Nice Watch for J Cole

I mean have you seen Meg and have you seen Cole.. there is a reason for the difference in marketing lol

A collab album for Jay Electronica
    A placement on BP3 for J Cole

S*** it took Jay Elect a whole decade to release sumn, only reason that s*** came out was because of Jay.

Can’t act like back then having a feat on a HIV album wasn’t a good look for a newcomer. I was there

You was the hottest rapper out if you were on a Hov album, and if you weren't known, you were about to be known. Correct me if I'm wrong when I say that Mr. Hudson got most of his following from being featured on Ye/Hov songs lol.

  • And lets be real, the number 1 reason Mr. Hudson was signed to GOOD is because Ye was trying to study his swag

That’s a fact! I’m not saying Jay couldn’t have done more I’m sure there was a lot of growing pains. But I really think Jay saw himself as young artists in Cole and wanted to see him go after it more

Compton was basically a Kendrick and Dre collab album

One verse on one of the Jays most forgetful albums means nothing

Hov even forced Cole to make Mr Nice Watch and waste a Hov feature on it when Cole wanted him on a better song like Sideline stories, damn shame

May not be well received but BP3 is not a forgettable album especially not during that time.

It’s one of Hovs most forgettable for sure, it being part of the BP series is what keeps it relevant, but music is subjective to each their own and I like Cole’s verse on star is born

But for us to not hear them together again until Mr nice watch, and then never again?

    Insane

would be cool to get a year on this encounter to help us determine what he mightve needed help on.

this could’ve been the very beginning when Kendrick and Drake debuted their albums, working together etc. Took awhile for Cole to catch on and be considered in the top 3

no bruh, Kendrick wasn’t even considered for the time we’re talking about Cole needed help. Kendrick was the last one to the party, this conversation needs to be corrected and it worries me niggas will think Cole was never him before Kendrick lol. Cole was doing 218k the year Dot did 35k

The year would have been 2008-2010 when Jay literally was doing nothing for cole outside of “get a hit song” and 2 songs

what debut would that be? Kendrick debuted at 242k with GKMC.
Section 80 which was a free mixtape then released later sold 5k but that was a mixtape. Kendrick always sold more than Cole you can go fact check this.

  • That insight of a first hand source saying Hov is competitive to the point of wanting to “kill” his own artists is cool to have. Definitely lends to the theory that Hov was a menace as the head of Def Jam. Tanking the career of an artist as big as DMX and lowkey sabotaging a talent as promising as J Cole is nuts the GOAT

Born Sinner came out 7 months after GKMC competing with peak Kanye and sold 297K we don’t have to do this bruh. Cole was touring arenas while Dot was opening for Kanye

You don’t remember The Heart song where Kendrick admitted to being jealous how big Cole was and joked about performing if he didn’t show up?

“Homie popped up with about twenty bags and Fresh out the plane, I couldn’t even complain My nigga was on his hustle, I introduced him my name Said I’ll see him on the bubble in the future, my dude,, I salute ya”
