Currently studying for the MCAT while being a medical scribe Super stressed about the MCAT cause ive been training as a scribe the past two weeks. Test date is September 2nd for me
Anybody else studying for the MCAT?
Edit: This was originally about black KTT doctors but I’m throwing the reach out to all the future black professionals of KTT word to my future lawyers, future nurses, future businessmen
iirc @str8dollaz is one
Is this your first time taking the test
Sure is Currently trying to get a 500-504 and let the rest of my resume do the job. I’m not looking to get into any insanely competitive medical schools, right now currently working on getting that MCat score and good clinical hours

You're gonna wanna aim a little higher than that range speaking from experience

Depending on how strong your overall GPA, science GPA, extracurriculars and rec letters are that 500-504 might still be on the lower end when doing the rolling application. It's good that you said that you're scribing now and looking for more clinical hours because those will be huge, but you don't want that score to potentially hold you back and have you waiting for the next cycle.
remember there’s a pretty strict limit on how many times you can submit your MCAT(i think it’s twice over the course of a year)
nothing wrong with taking it once just to get a grip on the format and environment before taking it for real

Yeah i totally agree. I’m not the best at standardized testing so I’ve been working on straight practice recently. 496 is my highest practice FL score so far so I have a month to get that higher. My current stats though are 3.5 overall GPA, I have two research papers published, I was an RA for 3 years, and I went through this professionalism medical program. Theres a lot more as well but I really wanted my application to shine through the work ive done not through my MCAT score.

That’s a good point too. Frankly that s*** is expensive and I’m already taking a prep course for it so I find it better if I give it my all so I only gotta take it once
