Well reading the cards and trying to interpret the symbolism really automatically makes you dive deeper in your inner self which in return makes it easier to tap into new understandings of your situation and things you need guidance with

Like let's say i would struggle with my motivation for school at the moment just to give an example. I could think deeply about it, but sometimes it just isn't that easy. Now if i would have the tarot cards in front of me, it challenges you to think even more deeply about that situation and by trying to decipher what's in front of you it might give me new insights about my lack of motivation for school and maybe even how to handle it better going onward, because the cards might show me perspectives that i wouldn't have thought of myself

Maybe i'm not explaining it super clear, i'm of a bit in a hurry and busy rn so sorry for that. But like i said in this thread before, it's moreso a tool to get better at being introspective for me than anything divine that could tell the future

Also in terms of powerful experiences i had, every time that i've done a 3 cards spread the cards would actually be so true to what my question was. beyond a ''it's mere coincedence'' like what you see a lot with those astrology things that can apply to everyone at any moment. It's jus super powerful if you take it serious. I've also had s*** happen like asking my deck ''describe who i am'', only to pull out 1 card out of the 78 and it describing perfectly who i am and it can kinda freak me out still

like you gonna tell me looking into the future with cards and pricking a doll of someone and they feel it irl don't both sound like a harry potter type beat to anyone not well versed in them? i'm not saying either is bullshit but i'm saying it ain't my thing

Imagine comparing something like putting pins in dolls with the intent to HARM other people to using cards that are strictly for bettering yourself as a human being and the situation you are in, that's wild to me ofc i'm gonna get agitated cause of that

I'm still learning lol, i'm not sure if i can give it a time window yknow. There's different decks with different images (although the meaning of most cards stay the same in every deck) and there's many links between the cards and it's all symbolism aswell, so i'd say it depends on how much you practice and how much time you're willing to spend to read up about the age old system of the tarot cards

Also, like i said it's a mirror into your own soul. So the biggest part of ''learning'' the tarot is learning to really open up to yourself on a super honest and confronting level

I'd say just do some more digging on the internet first, and look for a deck that suits you personally! Get a manual to go with said deck but only use it for additional info if you're having troubles interpreting the card yourself. Trust your intuition first, study the cards. What do you see? How do they make you feel?

Only then start to get into the actual ways of practicing a so called reading

Also, stay away from the sources that are trying to make it some magical future reading BS (that is, if you're like me and don't believe in that)

Instead try to get schooled on the Tarot by sources that fit you're viewing of what the tarot can do to be benefetial for you.

OK so adressing a few of the things I'm seeing in this thread.

My mom used to do it when I was a kid, my girl got me into it. It's not for us to decide what aspects are "real" or not. Let ppl enjoy their practice. And if you don't agree with it at all what's the point of posting ITT? Also to all the outsiders speaking on Voodoo just know that's an entire culture you're generalizing be careful with that.

But other than that Tarot is fye and it can strengthen your connection to self. To anyone curious I recommend you try it there's nothing to be afraid of.

I mean at the end of the day sure believe what you believe i was just saying that the majority of people who use the tarot actually don’t believe in predicting the future literally, which is true was just saying that cause i made the thread while having in mind what my use of the tarot is

Sometimes it's mad hostile on this site fr ppl got hella diverse practices/views and that makes discussions like this nearly impossible. But I know what you mean OP I was more addressing the fear mongering / xenophobic attitude some of these other posters mentioning voodoo and cults etc. Nothing wrong with any of that every belief/practice is valid
