for u guys that only take it when "needed" at high dosages, how much do you take? and how are the withdrawals? I know some people will take it for like 4 days then break from it for like 3 days.
i tried to but literally couldn’t get my script filled anywhere after calling over a hundred pharmacies, so i’m on Ritalin now
Tried to tell this white b**** I don't take vyvanse, thighs to the side singing Barbara Streisand

Do you take it daily or only as needed? Also, is it high dose? I'm asking because I assume taking a high dose as needed and then stopping abruptly could cause side effects.

I’m about to start the process of getting a vyvanse (or adderall) prescription. Is it even worth trying with all the shortages? I have blue cross blue shield insurance if that means anything

Probably need to
f*** i was responding and had like 3 paragraphs then i closed my phone for a sec & the page refreshed
Vyvance like other ADHD stimulants have very little withdrawal which you basically would need to be abusing them heavily to even feel. It can rarely occur still though
Doing 5-2 method where you only take it mon-fri is very common and saves extras which helps with the shortage. It also helps maintain your tolerance.
Vyvance I think is commonly dosed around 50-70mg but it can still come smaller too, which I see prescribed to children with AuDhd. Throughout most of my life I've mainly seen 40-70mg pills.
The dosages are different than Adderall because vyvance is only 1 of the 2 amphetamines in an Adderall mixture which is the weaker of the two. Also you can't snort vyvance for a couple of reasons, but primarily because it clots and is minimally water soluble.

with the ritalin, i take 5mg daily but skip weekends
10mg gives me the buzz & dry mouth, which i don’t think is necessary if i still feel that 5mg is effective
back in college, i used to be on 20mg adderall daily, skipping weekends usually. i’d sometimes double or triple up as well depending on how long my work shifts were. worst withdrawal would be that Saturday i was unable to focus & had my ADHD symptoms worse than usual, but i’d be back to normal by Sunday.
i wanted to switch to vyvanse bc addy gave me gout & too much appetite suppression, but vyvanse was unavailable, so i got ritalin instead. apparently gout flareups are common with any ADHD meds anyways though so oh well.

You're talking about 5mg of Ritalin, right?

yea lol 5mg of vyvanse will do nothing for anyone over 10lbs
concerta and it does wonders for me

i was gonna get concerta if i couldn’t get ritalin, how is it compared to other ADHD meds you’ve tried, if any?

It’s slow releasing so I never feel it wearing off by the end of the day
it also doesn’t make me feel like an emotionless drone like ritalin did or mess with my appetite
id tell ya how much I take but ironically i forget lol

i might try that next if i get tired of ritalin at some point
i wanted ritalin more than concerta completely so i could sing this when i forget to take it, which is fairly often since i have ADHD obviously

I would also add that I often have a little trouble with the availability of concerta too. It feels like every other prescription I gotta call around different pharmacies to see who has it in stock.

This is false, dextroamphetamine is the more potent enantiomer (to the central nervous system), whereas levoamphetamine is more stimulating to the peripheral nervous system
Gf takes it 3 days off 4 days on at 40mg, definitely nowhere near a perfect solution
I used to take it at 60-70mg but it's too numbing, makes me flat/irritable, obliterates appetite, and it lasts so long that the effects overlap (for any dosage)
Adderall XR + an IR booster has worked out extremely well for me

Agreed lol I just wanted to make sure op knew it cause he's wondering about doses, could be wondering why he's on 10x the dose

I'm talking about strength by weight alone, but it's good to add on info. V is a pro d*** which makes it more complicated with layman's terms. I just wanted op to get a basic understanding to feel more comfortable, it's appreciated you added more context
Wish we had 70mg Addy's in college tho

depends where you are ngl
i’m in NY & can’t get it anywhere bc the only places that get it are big stores like CVS & Walgreens and you have to already have a record of getting it from there for them to service you
but if you’re in a smaller area you might have a shot

If you want/need it, it is worth attempting.
I have a friend who got it with 0 hassle for his celiacs starting a couple months ago. Once another shortage wave hit they gave him different dosages and amounts. I have work colleagues who just bounce around different medications when it's needed. I also have plenty of clients on these meds who also are bounced around dosages/pills too. My wife just got her first script of Adderall like 2 days ago with no issue. This is a major city in the Midwest if that matters
At least where I am the shortage is generally getting better. Bcbs may help you more than Medicaid or other providers on this as well, but they can be a bigger pain in the ass sometimes too. Stil worth a try if it will benefit you
