Cause the older established artists are the only ones that still try tbh. Everyone else lately is trying to appeal to their specific niche and nothing outside of it, which is limited in the age appeal as well
Which is all fine but yeah
I also feel the rappers named are very balanced and versatile as well which helps give them cross generational appeal.
I sort of get what you mean but no I’ll never entirely stop listening to rap bc it’s the first genre I started listening to completely on my own
But I’m less interested in new acts and discovering new stuff, I mainly just listen to artists I already like. But, maybe that’s just cause I’m old and less open to new stuff
I love music as a whole

Sometimes its a Geek High type of day
Sometimes its a Bobby Womack type of day
Sometimes its a I gave you power type of day
You gotta love this music s***
realest post itt
especially in a time when lines btwn genres are so blurry
idk what giving up on a genre means tbh lol i just check out whatever new albums or songs that seem interesting
I feel like 2024 officially marks the year that I’m just no longer interested in this s***. Rappers refuse to grow and s*** is getting weird ignorant and worst of all, boring. And I’m not just talking commercial/trap/drill s*** either. I’m talking about the entire genre. Dusty rappers doing their best 90s rap impression and coke rappers on alchemist type beats just as uninspired imo. Rage trap was fun for a sec but that’s proven itself to be a gimmick pretty much. Obscure rappers usually obscure for a reason and previous gen A-List rappers like the big 3 and such are aging out and can’t continue to carry this s*** and honestly unless they do something different I’m good on them too lol.
Like I’ve pretty much checked out at this point and I no longer engage with the music or culture for entertainment. Honestly kinda reminds me of how I felt when I quit smoking weed, it’s like a new sense of mental clarity lol it’s wild.
Not tryna rain on anyone else’s parade or be negative, at the end of the day it’s entertainment so if it’s entertaining you then that’s great but yeah hip-hop just doesn’t do it for me anymore sadly and unless there is a major shift this might be permanent. Hip-hop been my favorite genre all my life so me disengaging from it kinda simultaneously disengaged me from music as a whole so I’m gaming a lot more these days, watching YouTube, movies etc. Even on here I’m mostly in gaming section now if anything because there is nothing going on rap wise that I even care to talk about lol. Like the current gen dropped the ball to the point that I’m good fr
Anyone else reach this point?
”Dusty rappers doing their best 90s rap impression and coke rappers on alchemist type beats just as uninspired imo.”
i’ve been saying half of those Alchemist collabs are vastly overrated but the niggas on here blindly d***ride anything with boom bap drums lol
Kanye is washed. Drake is washed. Kendrick is washed. Hip-hop has nothing left. Tiktok music dominates the culture

The way yall digest music is HORRIBLE.
You're deflecting from the fact that nothing groundbreaking has been done in hip hop since the 2010s

SIMBI, MM, Donda some top stuff dear visitor, there's plenty LPs that are nice, actually nevermind :vlosereave:
I'm over the culture aspect tbh. Like I dont get joy talking about any artists rly. I still find music I fw and I'm still making my own s*** but I definitely lowkey feel this thread. It all feels pretty dead to me
Iayze said this on a stream basically the problem is there's no authority in the hip hop media that everyone can look to to know who is hot or dope. No one's opinion cuts thru the randomness that is social media. So it feels dead cus basically death of monoculture and a lack of community
are u looking for new artists @op or are u just b****ing
op was too long to read, lmk
Hip hop has been an obsession of mine for a long time but rn I feel like growing out of it, meeting people from other walks of life focusing on work and building relationships, really the internet in general feels dead to me

get new artists or a new group of friends to discuss music with
so many legendary artists that hardly get any love, how about exploring genres u aren't that familiar with
music will never get old, ever
