No I will always love rap. But I do think it’s true that a lot of people aren’t as into it anymore

I think the thing is tho is that rappers don’t just turn into dust when they turn 30

It’s enough people born in the 90’s let alone 1980 and beyond that rap and could make relatable music for their age but the game just rewards trend chasing and we all accept it as the way it is.

Enter what Andre said. Enter people calling Joe and whoever else a hater for asking for Drake to make “real” music for a man in his late 30’s because “da charts”

At the same time we revere Future and Wayne for being timeless and always relevant because they do the same thing. Carti and Veeze who both will soon be 30+ will probably flourish with a similar trajectory. And while the big day sucked ultimately we killed off chance for making intimate music about his real life. Why would niggas try to go deeper than easy listening trendy background music?

    It gets deep lol

This is flawed imo, it's a young man's sport for sure but some of best songs and albums are made with the perspective of growth, Donda could have been something huge if ye was focused and Mr morale is great, there's this obsession with age shaming recently which I'm not sure if I'm noticing cause I'm getting older or if it was always there but. The problem rn is lack of artistic expression on the come up in rap, we can't blame the younger audience for wanting trends cause that's what being young is but we just don't have serious people on the come up

Never. Rap is my love. Even with its ups and down, I’m sticking with it

My question is why are older already established artists like Drake, Ye, Cole, Kendrick etc. the only ones capable of making music that appeals to all ages

It’s like any artist coming up rn gets labeled as someone making music for old heads or kids

Cause the older established artists are the only ones that still try tbh. Everyone else lately is trying to appeal to their specific niche and nothing outside of it, which is limited in the age appeal as well

Which is all fine but yeah

Yeah I really miss when albums had variety to them that appealed to different crowds

Everyone’s albums are all playlist fodder or something to scare the hoes

This year is gonna be insano for the underground but for the mainstream it’s dead in a ditch

i guess I can imagine if mainstream rap is mostly what someone consumes…them checking out hard in this climate, can’t say I personally relate though, even if s***s headed down the drain I can still throw on my favorite albums & be good

I think it’s the labels fault. They don’t want stars getting too big anymore cause it gives them too much leverage at the negotiating table.

The label wants you to feel like you need them, not they need you.
