It was my 7th time going. Train system is easy to use, use google maps or Apple Maps to help you with the train. What are your plans?

Get a pocket wifi or SIM card soon as you land at the airport. Most of those places are gonna be hella packed since they just lifted COVID restrictions. Go to British pub near shibuya crossing, you’ll most likely meet people there since a lot foreigners like to hang there. Same with roppongi.

Nashville (best friend moved there) and Colombia (dollar goes far there, as long as you do your research where you should be its safe)

Train is the easiest transits system I ever used. Everything is color coded and uses the English alphabet. Literally put wherever you’re going in Google maps and it’s so simple. Make sure you get a a rail pass, I think it was called Suica, can use it on all the trains buses and stuff inside and outside of Tokyo.

I was last there at the end of 2019 and they were gearing up for the Olympics before Covid hit and most places had English menus and people were pretty decent with basic English. Google translate would also be helpful too.

Getting one of those esims like Ubigi

I'll add the British Pub to my list! For attractions like the Bamboo Forest, or Osaka Castle do you think it's recommend3ed to do s*** like et there at 6AM to beat crowds? Also, and food places that stuck out to you? Planning on using FamilyMarts & 7/11s mainly to save but don't mind eating out here and there.

For a 2 week trip, how much money do you think I should put on a Suica? Planning on using it for most things Suica-accessible, like museums , food, trains.

Japan honestly sounds like a smooth, and easy-going first solo trip.

Hopefully Italy next month isn't too far off

There are 24-hour chains like Matsuya, Sukiya, and Nakau (and others) where you can get good meals (stuff like beef bowls, katsu curry, oyakodon) for around $4-5. Ramen and gyoza is usually ~$10 IIRC. Even at non-chain restaurants, food isn’t expensive, especially for the quality, so if you stumble across a place that seems interesting, you can check the menu before you go in, or just scope places out on Google Maps before going out. Japanese bakeries are quite good and inexpensive. Also, make sure to try local specialties, like okonomiyaki in Osaka.

Also, I would recommend staying a night between Tokyo and Kyoto/Osaka in somewhere like Ito or Hakone if you can swing it - go to an onsen, do some hiking.

I've made note of those places! I heard Tokyo was expensive like LA, but reports like these are making me think otherwise.

As for the onsen part idk, I have tattoos...
