Back in college and some years ago post-college I had a bit of a caffeine addiction, but I found that I wasn’t necessarily as addicted to the caffeine as I was like the “ritual” of drinking coffee/etc itself. There’s basically two ways I found of easing caffeine addiction (which absolutely f***s your sleep up btw, the one benefit of knocking caffeine overload is being able to actually sleep).
-do not ever drink ANYTHING caffeinated after 5pm, unless you know you’re okay going to bed far later than usual that night. If you do this, it should be once a week max - keep a consistent sleep schedule otherwise 90% of the time. Before 5pm, the “amount” of caffeine doesn’t really matter as much - but still, try swapping heavily caffeinated drinks after your first for lower content like tea or even sugar-free soda
-having caffeine itself isn’t an issue, but it can be a huge issue to have cravings for things that are otherwise caffeinated. I’ve found going for decaf coffee/tea tends to fill the exact same craving as the actual caffeinated equivalents and it tends to trick your body into accepting it as if it was the craving. Decaf coffee or tea mid-day to evening is a lifesaver

i had a caffeine withdrawal a few months back because i abusing preworkouts before lifting

i would consume around 250-500 mg of caffeine daily and then one day i just stopped - it was really bad, felt like s***, head hurt all the time. it took me a solid 2 weeks to get to a point where i felt normal again lmao.

Even with that 5pm thing, I feel like if I have coffee any time relatively after 2pm I run the risk of not getting as good of sleep

Caffeine definitely hits some people harder than other, and it’s also depending on much you drink and when you go to bed. I don’t sleep until 12-1am normally or so, so 5pm is fine for me. It’s not a hard rule of 5pm generally, but overall you should find a time that works for you and hard cut off all caffeine past that point regularly

Caffeine is healthy in moderation. I really just need 1-2 cups in the morning until I gotta take a s***

    weirdest take ever

    caffeine addiction kills
    caffeine addiction ruins families
caffeine addiction is valuable to corporations

Damn. You should do a caffeine and sugar/carb detox. It will suck the first few weeks but you feel amazing after. Helped me out quite a bit.

  • Switch to green tea

  • Aug 20, 2021

I used to not drink coffee at all, but now I drink 2 cups a day. I just like the taste.

I'm not too stressed about it though. I rarely ever drink alcohol and I don't do d****, so some coffee isn't really a big deal imo. We're all addicted to a lil sumthin'
