I'm planning to go in a couple months for 7 days and i cant decide where to stay
I'm stuck between Milan and Rome
Milan is close to Lake Como and not to far from other places like Florence and Venice
But Rome seems like a better place for tourists
how good is the train system? would i be able to travel to a lot of places if I stayed in Rome without having to be on trains for like 4+ hours?
You can visit more major cities if you're in Milan, but there's nothing in the world like Rome if you're into the type of history and art the city has to offer. Really depends what youre looking to do. You could spend a lifetime in Rome and still have places to see. Milan is also nice but more contemporary in a lot of ways

in your opinion, would you rather go to Milan and visit more cities
or go to Rome and spend most/all of your time there?

Rome & Firenze are musts. If u stay in Rome, I think u got pretty good connections to Firenze & Naples but idk what public transit prices are like.
Don't go if your not white
im not white, but people said the same thing about Denmark and i loved that so its worth the risk

Trains are good, fast and reliable in Italy
Rome is super touristy, but it’s still rome
Milan is amazing
I’d say stay in Florence and then go to Rome and Milan by train

Ive gone to like 20 cities in Italy, depends on what your vibe is. If you like roman ruins, the renaissance, church architecture, Rome is the greatest city on earth. Milan has more modern museums, lots of fashion. And Venice and Turin and Bologna are all really cool cities to visit too. But what are you looking to do in Italy? Are you there for art? Cuisine? Each city in Italy is unique so if you just want a lot of new experiences maybe hit up Milan and go around northern Italy.
Go to Rome, close to napoli, Firenze, Siena, Pompei and s***. Milan is great too and youre close to Bologna, Bergamo, Torino, lake Como and lake Garda. Train system is good usually and can take you to these places quite fast, depending on how much you pay. But at most it'll take you around 3 hours i think
