I feel you OP, that mentality is installed in me

Like you have to stay vigilant and ready for things to blow up

better to be right and prepared when s*** hits the fan rather than wrong and surprised

one of my friends mentioned wanting to buy me something i wanted for my birthday.

my immediate internal response was they must joking bc why would someone do that for me.

yeah i still got things to work through lol
