You definitely were! But the change was very recent, so if you saw a doctor for it again now you’d be put on the spectrum

    having a spectrum that contains

people who yell and scream and hit all day and can't feed themselves at one end

and steve jobs at the other end

    is a meaningless dogshit spectrum

Yeah but we all gotta stay on the same page if we’re gonna better understand these issues I’d say even if it’s inconvenient at first

I think he’s just mixed with his words

@1017TomNook can confirm since him and I work with autistic individuals daily

I really wanted to just leave this thread before I act like a d*** but yeah, asbergers was expunged from diagnosis terminology. It's all just autism now

Edit Holy s*** the ignorance in this thread now. I need to leave.

i think you are contradicting yourself here.

is it autism or is it not?

He's not contradicting himself, asbergers is no longer diagnosable. It's just autism that is defined by traits or given an umbrella term of high or low fuctioning.

It got absorbed into the diagnostic criteria for autism which was also adapted recently.

You can say this about depression, GAD, bipolar, schizophrenia, schizoaffecrive, borderline, etc and have the same effect. You could even say this with cancer, allergies, and what not.

Literally everything in the dsm acts on a spectrum like this.

Psychopathology as a whole works this way

It's not part of the spectrum the same way " " is no longer used as a specific term for down syndrome.

I think you are naive to how fast this stuff can change, and the fact that outdated terminology is still thrown around by casuals, especially for other disorders.

Asbergers as a term is in the process of being phased out, but that doesn't mean it holds medical weight at all anymore. No accredited psychologist would diagnose anyone with asbergers in 2020, because they would be going against diagnostic criteria.

Ironically enough, if you were evaluated you would know the proper term for your illness, if you have one.

Edit did it censor the r word? Respect to ktt for that tbh

You’re on the spectrum, which could be classified as autism. But it’s more of a thing to say you’re on the spectrum compared to saying you have autism.

    it’s politics
