By when will we know?
I woulda tried harder to get on unemployment had I known they were giving out $600 a week I didn’t find out until like end of June. I tried applying back in February, but the lady denied me n I just said f*** it n never checked again.
Man this s*** gonna suck I hate being poor
Move to the south bro y’all niggas be living in huts in s*** for no reason in Cali. you would be living lavish down here for like a 3rd of the price there
That $600 a week is a huge deal when you add it up.
My household didn't file for unemployment this entire pandemic because I have been finishing my credential, student teaching and looking for work, while my wife kept her job and took a 15% pay cut. However, there is a quirk in the California EDD system that allows people to file for unemployment and get their pay cuts and lost hours back through the state. So we gave it a look.
Making up for the pay cut wasn't a huge deal, a thousand or two at most. But it also gave us access to the $600 checks. Besides the 15% per biweekly check we were owed, there were 16 weeks of $600 checks coming to us.
16 x $600 = $9600
My household has nearly $10,000 coming over the next month that I didn't even know I had access to. That's not even accounting for the 15% that was lost. All of it tax free off the top (we'll feel it when it comes time for our usual tax refund).
And that's just dating back to mid-April. Some people have been out of work since the end of March because of covid. No f***ing s*** people are tripping over $10,000-$11,000. Who wouldn't? That's a lot of money. And it's the only thing keeping a lot of families afloat. F*** the cheap b******s in Congress for pulling the rug out from under the middle class and going on recess before they can patch up the damage.
