A dude I used to work with is constantly posting ig stories that they are trying to lock us back down and another stronger virus is on the way.

He always ends with “just wait for it” so apparently something’s gonna happen according to him

i caught it while i was out in tokyo and my american doctor put me on this regimen he puts all his patients on. paxlovid for the actual virus, prednisone for the cytokine storm, a z pack to prevent other infections, and some cough stuff. the japanese doctor i had to go basically was like “nah you don’t need all that you just need to power through it” which was surreal from a japanese doctor of all doctors but basically if you ask them nicely they’ll prescribe you whatever you ask for within reason. that s*** was gone within 2 days, i ain’t even need to finish the cough stuff

im afraid of long covid so i take no chances, but i don’t think the pandemic could get that bad again because we have effective treatments now even if you don’t get vaccinated. although the treatments apparently only work if you catch it early according to my doctor, but it’s a relatively generous window of after like 3 days of having relatively significant symptoms. i got immunity for the next 6 months or so but i’d rather just take the vax than risk getting it again, at least if i travel ill make sure to get it before
