I’m a scientist myself and definitely believe in most of the people doing the work but it’s undeniable that the direction of research is guided by those kinds of groups

Thats not what I meant. There are forces bigger than any 'scientific objectivity', like who funds studies and why, what ideas and what ideas socially sanctioned my classes with power. this forms a loop that ensures that at the very least a 'scientific consensus' never forms that opposes the default ideology of the world -- liberal capitalism.
