ears were sore due to the procedure for a couple of days, pain wasnt too bad due to the technique the surgeon used, though it made the stitching more prone to coming loose so i had to go get it cauterized when the left one gave.

i lost 8 lbs in ~2 weeks, expect a lot of liquids to get you by, i recommend getting the pedialyte otterpop popsicles since it has some electrolytes. be sure to elevate your head when you sleep

    I forgot to ask:
    1. How old were you when you got the surgery

    2. Did you get less infections/strep throat/etc after?

i was 24 when i got them out. i didnt get them out due to infections, i actually got them out because they were too large and gave me sleep apnea lol. but if u were wondering, yes my sleep has been much better since.

my friend who got hers out bc of constant infections says that it reduced the occurence of infections in her experience

When I got it around 4th grade, it took about two weeks to recover, with the last week being pretty mild in the symptoms.

Never got strep throat or any infections since the diet was a lot of cold s*** and popsicles and I always had a sweet tooth, lol.

I don’t remember how my sleep was during that time but I’m pretty sure I used to snore extremely loud before this. Afterwards and even Untill know I’m told I’m almost silent when I’m asleep ( ).

you get curious about touching the back of it even with your tongue but pls don’t.

I imagine you’d probably get hit with some pain meds but pls no Vicodin my brotha. Not worth it and I don’t feel like it should hurt that bad. Don’t try to speak up or yell during that time either

They’re swollen basically permanently and much more likely to keep getting infected

Not sure how old you are but it might be a phase. This used to happen to me a lot on a pretty consistent annual basis but it stopped when I turned 20.

But I must say it’s not that scary. And recovery time with the Rona around won’t feel that bad since everyone is being accustomed to staying at home.

    Good luck fam

Prob might be hella d***ged out the first day tho lmao

No s*** you were in the 4th grade. This surgery is relatively minor for kids they bounce back easy from it. Only an incompetent doctor would tell an adult recovering from this to consume high fat dairy like ice cream

Got my surgery done today @thebootywarrior @Zeus

My throat in a little pain, about to be able to take medication in 30 mins (had to wait a few hours after surgery).

I'm craving regular food so bad Bought applesauce, yogurt, jello, ice cream, soup, eggs (scrambled eggs are ok apparently), mashed potatoes, baby food, etc.

  • Nov 11, 2020

Yeah I did when I was a kid. The only thing I remember was I woke up near the end of the procedure and vomited on the workers and I ate a bunch of ice cream after

So it's about to be 5 days since the surgery, hopefully ATLEAST midway through recovery if not much further. @thebootywarrior @Zeus

Day of the surgery was fine, but then once you go home, sleep, wake up that s*** got worse I guess whatever they numb your throat with wears off.

I got this medicine that I guess helps. I'm kinda confused with it. I take it, I automatically get sleepy/dizzy, and it usually knocks me out. Also somehow stops me from focusing on my throat, but if I attempt to swallow or whatever it still hurts a s***ton.

The first few nights I was managing great, til right around day 2.5 I woke up in the middle of the night coughing. Then streams of blood start coming out my throat and I was shook af. I was literally coughing up tons of blood. They said there was a risk of bleeding afterwards, but said it was pretty small. So I was googling if I should go to the hospital but they said online bleeding after is actually pretty common. After 5-10 mins my mouth stopped leaking though and I went back to bed, and didn't have any other incident that day so I decided not panic about that.

Now it still hurts everytime I swallow, but I feel like it is slowly hurting less now. I've been sleeping and eating the same s***ty foods I'm so tired of it. I'm gonna have a big ass feast the day I'm good again.

I'm also drooling soooooo much when I sleep Also having a spit cup by my bed. This s*** is so disgusting. It feels so unsanitary.

Mostly I'm handling it well but I REALLY hope this s*** is over soon I miss real food so much. Idk why I didn't think the recovery would be this serious...
