i really dislike fantano for this exact reason, but for people who doubt his influence on the online music scene. rodeo was like panned or considered mediocre by a lot of critics on release, then fantano comes out and gives it an 8/10 then and suddenly RYM goes from a 2/5 to a near 4/5 (3.77) average rating. The same thing happened with brockhampton. Not saying by any means he's the sole cause of people's favorable view of the album (the album just sounds good i dont think it should go deeper than that lol), but for a lot of the more pretentious types, the really highly regarded view of the album didn't come until like post-RYM crowd. Even in the public eye, while he was big from Rodeo & Antitode, I don't think he really blew up "commercially" until Birds

I think it mainly being attributed to how he markets himself and critics alike of course, crowds hold his opinion to such a high regard because of his approach to criticizing music and it seems like he has such a specific taste so whenever he gives an album a good score particularly out his realm of approval it’s def gonna influence other people perception of that work possibly in a way they’d never would before hearing his opinion. I seen the same thing happen with die lit I Guarantee his followers were going to cast it aside as your usual trap album but him giving it a positive review allowed them to look at through the same lens as they would with any other adventurous artist.it’s weird how much power that man has

Man is making s*** up as he goes, there’s been any number of attempts at maximalist albums, has nothing to do with being a “producer” hell ty$’s last album was an attempt at a maximalist album

It’s not about the sound…it’s about the approach..the length of songs, the progressions of songs, compared to the artists previous work

You simply have a different definition of classic. For you classic is synonymous with great album.

Plenty of artists have put together 7 straight great albums, hell Taylor Swift has done it lol. It’s difficult but not unrealistic

You are out of your mind if you think artists are putting together 4+ consecutive CLASSICS
